This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to IBeatYou.com with Jessica Alba Staring Contest. After her lipsync adventure for online competition site IBeatYou, owned by her fiancé Cash Warren, Jessica now takes on another challenge. The runner up spot is for Apple Mac Music Video. 23-year-old filmmaker Dennis Liu, producer at BBDO New York, created this very creative clip for indie/pop/alternative musical duo The Bird and the Bee from Los Angeles. MUTO completes this week’s top 3. In his latest video Italian street artist Blu combines street art and stop motion.

1. Jessica Alba Staring Contest


After her lipsync adventure for the online competition site IBeatYou (IBY inc.) 7 weeks ago Jessica Alba now comes with another video. Blogger Kev Jumba challenged the pregnant actress to a staring contest. Jay-eh, Jessica’s nickname on IBeatYou, accepted the challenge and managed to stare into the camera for over a minute without blinking! Over 750.000 people enjoyed Jessica’s brown eyes on YouTube and IBeatYou. People.com, MSNBC, Digg and Stuff.co.nz wrote about the event.

2. Apple Mac Music Video


23-year-old filmmaker Dennis Liu, producer at BBDO New York, created this very creative clip for indie/pop/alternative musical duo The Bird and the Bee from Los Angeles. The clip shows “tons of cool ways to use a Mac to the song of ‘Again & Again’”. Over 900 bloggers posted the video on their blog. The video now has about 450.000 YouTube views after it was uploaded one week ago. Another example of being creative with music video clips comes from Electric Eel Shock from Japan. (Source: Tuaw)

3. MUTO


Blu is an Italian street artist. His latest video, in which he combines street art and stop motion, is called Muto. The video, recorded in Buenos Aires (Brazil) and Baden (Switzerland), can be found on Vimeo and YouTube and has about 800.000 views. (Source: Huckmagazine, Appelogen)

4. Chevrolet Aveo: Transformers


About 4 years ago RSCG London and Spy Films created the Transformer commercial for the Citroën C4 (Source: Visit4info). Now Strawberry Frog Amsterdam made a spoof of this commercial for the Chevrolet Aveo. The video, directed by Lieven van Baelen of Czar scores very well with 300.000 views in just one week. 5. Bob Ross


The Nobel Foundation, a foundation that matches charities with creatives, and advertising agency Pool brought Bob Ross back to life and made the above video to reach the creatives the Nobel Foundation is looking for. (Source: Adformatie, Reclameweek)

6. Subaru Forester Sumo Carwash


DDB Toronto created a sexy spot to promote the Subaru Forester 2009. With a soundtrack from Electric Six, the spot is bizarrely beautiful and oddly humorous and can be found on several influential blogs like Jalopnik, Auto North, Autoblog.com and Autoblog.bg. (Source: Beyond Madison Avenue)

7. Philishave Satinelle


Advertising agencies DDB and Tribal made a campaign to promote the Philips Satinelle Ice Epilator. The ad for the Satinelle Ice Epilator features an LA-based transvestite dancer, Karis, using the epilator. Neil Dawson, DDB’s global director for Philips, said: “We wanted to find the ultimate test for this device. It occurred to us that a man, or more specifically a transvestite, would be the ultimate test, given the combination of low pain threshold and desire for beautiful legs.” (Source: Reclamewereld, Brand Republic)

8. Digg Dubb: Groove Is In The Heart

On April 22th Digg hosted a San Francisco Meetup. The Digg Crew needed a way for people to recognize them during the meetup. This is what they came up with. We see Jay Adelson rapping at 2:02 and, at the very end of the video, founder Kevin Rose who declares the group “crazy” and leaves. The video features “The gals, guys, and dogs that bring you Digg” and was filmed by Eddie Codel. (Source: Valleywag)

9. Samsung: Optical Illusions


Telephone manufacturer Samsung presents their “10 optical illusions in 2 minutes” viral to promote the new Samsung Soul. Soul stands for ‘The Spirit Of Ultra’ and is the crown to the Ultra 3 Edition series. The Soul is a super-slim slide phone with dual-screen touch-sensitive controls, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, 3G video calling, MP3 player, FM radio and plenty of memory. 10. Lastminute.com: Unexpected performance


The American Improv Everywhere group scored a Viral Friday top 3 position about 2 months ago with the Food Court Musical viral, a spontaneous musical with 16 undercover actors in Balwin Hills Mall in Los Angeles. Internet travel agency Lastminute.com ‘borrows’ their idea and performs a spontanious musical at Stansted Airport (London) with 7 hidden cameras, 14 undercover actors and a very surprised audience. Viral marketing agency Rubber Republic created the viral to promote Lastminute.com’s 50% discount on theatre tickets. (Source: Brand Republic)
