H&M Strikes Back: The Sims2 H&M Fashion Stuff
EA Games and fashion retailer H&M have partnered in a compelling fashion design contest. Users can dress up their Sims in the latest H&M clothing collections for men and women with The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff. Below you can see the official trailer.
A few months ago we slapped H&M for ignoring the H&M Hyves Community. But now H&M strikes back in a compelling and brave contest.
The Sims2 H&M contest was promoted via Yahoo!
In the contest your Sims can choose from contemporary fashion essentials including flirty short dresses, casual but striking dress shirts, and other head-turning outfits, complete with accessories-all inspired by real H&M designs.
Design your own store modeled after the sleek interiors of the trendsetting retailer. Your all-new retail-themed items include mannequins, clothing racks, cash registers, fitting rooms, and more.
Design a fashion runway where your Sims can showcase their favorite outfits on the catwalk. Whether wearing bold new styles, spotlighting the stylish collection on the runway, or shopping for the latest trends at a store that you design, your Sims will show off their superior sense of style with The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff.
The designed Sims2 collection will be sold in over 1.000 H&M retail shops worldwide. I call it a brave act of community marketing by H&M. What’s your opinion on this campaign?

LOL…nice. I just wrote about something similar to this. Have you heard of Four Eyed Monsters? It’s an indie flick about a couple hooking up via the Internet. They screened their film in Second Life.
Avatars shuffled into a virtual theater, while in the real world they could converse with the filmmakers about the movie. Susan Buice, one of the movie’s stars, said it was her favorite showing.
Good stuff.

Had not heard of four eyed monster.. now I have
Thanks
The question is, what’s the main purpose. I like the idea, but what’s the goal? And are they using is fully? Are they for example looking for people that are good designers and trying to hire them? Or good store builders, etc?
@Bas
Brand engagement? To show that H&M understands it main target group’s behavior? To share the mutual feeling of fashion lovers? To drive retail sales?
Don’t think H&M is looking for designers or store builders.
I think H&M has understood the behavior of its clients very well. Same as why Ikea is doing furniture in Habbo Hotel.
If brands want to reach and engage consumers like this, no need to do another shouting print ad in a newspaper or billboard. These teens spend 50 hours or more per month online.. That’s were you can engage them by inviting them to participate.
Cheers
