Viral Friday: Take On Me (The Literal Version)

Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Take On Me (The Literal Version). 29-year-old Dustin McLean of Dustfilms created a new version of the video for 1985 song “Take On Me” by the band a-ha. The runner up spot is for Trident Insurance with The Trident Girls. UK insurance company Trident was looking for a ‘sexier’ way of promoting the sometimes boring world of insurance. 4 Softies And A Pizza Guy completes this week’s top 3. “PDC 2008” is the debut single of the new boyband “4 Softies and a Pizza Guy”, a mix of 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync and New Kids on the Block.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

1. Take On Me (The Literal Version)

The 29 year old Dustin McLean, filmmaker and musician from Pasadena, creates stop-motion animations and flashmovies with his firm DustFilms. He offers these movies on several websites like BRAVO Netwerk, BBC and CollegeHumor. Dustin created a new version of the 1985 hit “Take On Me” from A-HA, in which he replaced the lyrics from the song with the actual happenings in the clip.

“Take On Me: The Literal Version”, can be found at YouTube, CollegeHumor and FunnyOrDie, has been viewed over 500.000 within one week. (Source: De Standaard)

2. The Trident Girls

Trident Insurance, one of the UK’s leading Insurance brokers, was looking for a ’sexier’ way of promoting the sometimes boring world of insurance, particularly to a younger audience. So the UK insurance company from Essex introduces “The Trident Girls”, three scantily-clad hot girls jumping up and down in slow motion on pogo sticks.

3. 4 Softies And A Pizza Guy

The latest all-new boyband has arrived “4 Softies and a Pizza Guy” laying it down for PDC 2008 and Windows 7! The free distribution includes an HQ video on YouTube, an MP3 at last.fm, a MySpace page, and Facebook. (Source: The Guardian).

4. Shave The Pussy

RFSU (Riksförbundet för sexuell upplysning) is the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education. Swedish Agency Akestam Holst created for RFSU the campaign “Shave The Pussy“, where visitors are invited by nurse Miss Fiffi to shave the female private part by being as original as you can with a pair of scissors, a razor, a comb and RFSU products.

5. Survive The Outbreak

The Outbreak is an interactive horror film directed by Chris Lund and created by Silktricky, which allows viewers to make their own decision to live or die. Make the right choice, and live on to the next scene. Make the wrong decision and it could be your last.
