Diesel: SFW XXX Viral Porny Party Promotion

Written by Igor Beuker on October 7th, 2008 | 7 comments

The Viral Factory collated clips of the 80′s porn in a humorous new viral to celebrate Diesel’s 30th anniversary. The viral uses animation to block out the rude bits, creating various cartoon interpretations of the actors’ movements. Actors are seen shaking maracas, playing the harmonica, riding horses and eating a banana…

The viral is titled SFW XXX (short for “safe for work”), the opposite of NSFW or “not safe for work” – an acronym used to tag porn online and promotes a series of parties being held to celebrate Diesel’s anniversary.

I think the creation of the viral clip is brilliant. It shows lots of guts from Diesel again. However, I feel The Viral Factory has made a huge mistake in their seeding strategy. They uploaded the viral video to YouTube first . Then started the initial seeding with the video that was hosted at YouTube.

But since YouTube had banned the viral commercial (video no longer available) many blogs and social sites had already embedded the Diesel video, that showed: video is no longer available…

Written by Igor Beuker on October 6th, 2008 | 4 comments

Oh, what an opportunity. Below video was created by a student in a video project for school. But wouldn’t it have been a great viral commercial for TomTom? See how TV series LOST is solved in 30 seconds with TomTom…

Its amazing to see, how easy brands could actually score viral success, if they would be using viral videos more often in this new digital marketing era, were blogs, forums, social networks and video portals rule the online world.

But luckily TomTom has created their own viral commercial before. The viral video takes a bit long, but the end makes it worth watching.

How Nike Spreads Football Videos With Widgets

Written by Igor Beuker on October 5th, 2008 | 2 comments

Nike is famous for its video creativity. Nike understands like no other brand how video portals and social networks can contribute to raise even more brand awareness and to increase its brand preference. A no-brainer to Nike, since they understand that their target audience spends hours per day in social platforms.

See i.e. the Nike Football Channel at YouTube. Or see the Nike Here I Am Facebook Channel.

Nike Football has created so many videos that they have decided to combine them in a widget. The widget allows Nike fans to see all new videos together.

The widget also enables Nike brand ambassadors to embed the videos with a few clicks into their blog or social network. It’s a smart way of Nike facilitating brand fans to spread their videos.

Written by Niels Bellaar on October 3rd, 2008 | 2 comments

Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Google: 5 Friends. Roughly 1 in 4 Americans still aren’t registered to vote. That is why Google brought several actors together to make a public service announcement video. The runner up spot is for Homer Simpson who Tries To Vote For Obama. The November 2 (just two days before the election) episode of the Simpsons will include this clip of Homer casting his vote. Search Engine Rap Battle completes this week’s top 3. The battle is on between Microsoft, Yahoo and Google MCs. There are three separate battles: MSN vs Google, Google vs Yahoo, and MSN vs Yahoo.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

Social Shopping Widget: Check Before You Buy

Written by Igor Beuker on October 1st, 2008 | 2 comments

We do create a lot of widgets and we like it, since widgets are an unique combination of a viral video, viral game and a micro site. So widgets challenge our creative and interactive minds. And widgets offer brands, agencies and consumers new opportunities.

Consumers like to add widgets to their social networks, mainly because it enhances their social status and makes them look cool in an environment of peers.

To get widgets spread faster, social media marketing agencies can fit widgets into important social networks seamlessly through natural and paid seeding. The good thing about widgets compared to online display ads: widgets can virally spread and become weapons of mass affection, display ads and banners not.
