Heineken’s New Walk-In Fridge Commercial

Written by Matthijs Roumen on April 29th, 2009 | 5 comments

Earlier this year, Heineken aired their video called Walk In Fridge. It was originally meant for the Dutch market but ended up going viral over the entire world with 1.500.000 views in the first week and millions in the period after the first week.

The video received a lot of buzz and attention and even made it into Viral Friday in the first week of 2009. After the success of Heineken, Dutch beer brewery Bavaria tried to spoof the commercial with a remake: Bavaria’s Spoof On Heineken’s Walk In Fridge [read Igor's opinion on this commercial here on ViralBlog]. Ofcourse, Heineken couldn’t stay silence and launched the above commercial this week. A remarkable comeback, but is it worth the effort?

The Dramatic Shift In Marketing Reality

Written by Igor Beuker on April 23rd, 2009 | 13 comments

Companies, marketers and advertising agencies are facing a dramatic shift in marketing reality. They are increasingly failing to connect with consumers. Just see this great video and you will understand…

The big challenge in times of exchangeable products, the rise of social media and mature and rather brand sceptic consumers: To find new ways how to get people engaged again in products, advertising and in brands. The video was created by Scholz und Friends.

To brands and agencies that ignore this dramatic shift in marketing reality, I would like to say: “Just play the video again”. All marketers know this video tells the truth. They just need to change their DNA.

And that will take some time, but it’s worth trying, since your brand is your biggest asset! So unleash the power of digital marketing to transform your brand and business.

Ford’s Smart Social Media Marketing Approach

Written by Igor Beuker on April 20th, 2009 | 21 comments

Today I spotted an interesting interview with Scott Monty, head of social media for Ford Motor Company about social networking on Fox News. Ford has really understood social marketing is not about putting a banner on Facebook’s homepage and all about the commitment to get the brand integrated in a viral ways that matter to users…

In the interview Ford proves it knows it needs to listen to users by interaction with them in social networks. In the interview we also see Mike Howard, COO of Kiwibox. I hope the interview gave marketers and agencies a better understanding of the power of social media marketing?

But brands please remember, your media agency will tell you to run an advertising campaign, so you can reach many people cheap. But please think again: is social media marketing all about launching your banners on a social site, or is social marketing all about conversations, together, listen, learn, interact, and engage?

Written by Igor Beuker on April 18th, 2009 | 48 comments

Social media marketing is top priority at most CMO’s marketing agenda for 2009. But unfortunately many brands will fail. Simply because they are only aiming for short term campaigns and quick bribes. They lack the Obama mentality. And for success in social marketing an Obama DNA is a must have. See how Obama uses online video and the internet…

Obama recently introduced again another new interactive tool on WhiteHouse.gov: “Open for Questions,” which allowed people to submit their questions on the economy and vote on those submitted by others.
