Bacardi launched a website in order to promote their beverage, the Bacardi Breezer. While creative directors of the Israeli agency McCann Digital thought this approach would be fun for their target audience, most likely to be influentials in female peer groups, they totally missed the point and failed deeply with their campaign “Get An Ugly Girlfriend!”.
Whathappened? And why did this campaign ended up like something familiar that happened to Motrin (see the article: The Motrin Case: The Voice Of The Crowd, right here on ViralBlog). Lets have a closer look at the campaign.
Sony Ericsson is very active within the social media landscape and is earning attention with viral video content. We like this sponsorship activation of Sony Ericsson for the WTA- the Women’s Tennis Association. Just watch powerhouse Venus Williams. How does an American Football defensive line stack up against the fastest serve in women’s tennis?
Recently our SocialMedia8 have seeded this Motion Mania video for Sony Ercisson. Our ViralTracker is still tracking the reach, impact and ROI of the campaign.
We are not involved in this WTA campaign, but we like to see how Venus Williams smashes the hell out of an American Football defense line. Want to see more videos of the WTA campaign? Check the next ones…

Us Now: a film directed by social anthropologist/filmmaker Ivo Gormley

The Dark Knight, Spiderman and The Fantastic Four, the list is endless. And one of the most successful franchises is Transformers. It was one of the big hits in 2007. And Hollywood wouldn’t be Hollywood if it didn’t shoot a sequel of a film that has been shit hot- in other words, Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen has recently hit screens across Europe!
But where director Michael Bay loves over the top explosions and full on action Paramount, the production company responsible for the film, has chosen for a very smart approach to promote the film.
Obviously there are the explosive trailers full of action and hot women, but there is a deeper layer hidden behind that.
Totally unexpected. How can a traditional company – with a more then traditional service – get a great score in the viral charts with a viral video? A company with no social DNA at all and most likely with only just a few brand ambassadors online to spread the word?
Eyecandy and a interesting topic must have done the trick. Watch the viral video of French mail service LaPoste:
