Life’s For Sharing: Spread The Word

Written by Mireille Hakkenberg on June 23rd, 2009 | 4 comments

In January of this year, the travelers at Liverpool Street Station in London got surprised when instead of hopping on the trains, most commuters started dancing. We know now that this sudden revival of joined dancing was an advertising stunt by T-Mobile for their ‘Life’s for sharing’ campaign.

‘Life’s for sharing’: another example of the changing advertising landscape

And it got shared: the video spread online through e-mail, blogs and social networks and generated over 21 million views on YouTube alone. Within only a few weeks time the stunt got imitated several times, including one that shut down that same Liverpool Street Station.

The success of the ‘Life’s for sharing’ stunt at Liverpool station is another example of the changing advertising landscape.

Ultimo, Britain’s leading underwear brand, and theme park Alton Towers Resort have teamed up to test if the Ultimo Bras could withstand the G-force’s on the different roller coasters and to produce an underwear advisory guide.

Having a bra-vellous day out

A group of scantily-clad female test-riders donned a variety of Ultimo bras and were put through their paces on several adrenalin-inducing rollercoasters, including Rita Queen of Speed and Spinball Whizzer, to test the durability and lift support of bras to make sure they were a snug fit.

To start with my vision on Facebook’s business model. Off course I know its business model has been criticized more than often. I think, the Facebook founders have simply decided not to monetize traditional online brand advertising.

It chose to exploit its platform with a long term vision, and it could switch at each and any moment. So let’s assume Facebook is here to stay for another while.

Let’s take a further look on the internet and mobile phone penetration towards 2012. As you will understand, it will be an important benchmark to forecast the future of Facebook in 2012.

About Social Media And Consumer Advocacy?

Written by Igor Beuker on June 19th, 2009 | 6 comments

The video and explanation might be a bit silly. But it could help marketers to understand the importancy of social marketing. The relationship between brands and consumers has irreversibly changed. Just watch how Dave found and fell in love with his ‘blank’ here…

Obviously what is needed now is a new mark silly, but eting paradigm that calls for clients to actually STOP ‘marketing’ and be more engaged in the consumer conversation and act on behalf of the consumer in a way that creates brand advocates.

Who Will Earn Dollars From Digital Technology?

Written by Igor Beuker on June 18th, 2009 | 3 comments

The agencies, publishers, broadcasters, artists and business people who will succeed in this new digital era, are those who are paying attention to the changing behaviors and tastes of the new digital audience. And what companies will be able to unleash the power of digital technologies to transform their businesses and brands?

all things digital

To my believe there is hardly any strategic case around that will prove that traditional ad agencies will be able to make a successful transition into the new agency: one that masters the excellence for digital technology, eCRM and customer engagement. For the monetization of digital technology I would bet my money on agencies that have mastered digital technologies and invested in innovation the last decade.

A commercial translation of above statement means that traditional ad agencies’ roles will be owning the last part of the value chain: creating 30″ TV commercials, but making Dollars from digital technology, I don’t see that happen to most of them…

How about publishers, broadcasters and filmmakers…

Sasquatch Music Festival 2009 Dance Mob?

Written by Igor Beuker on June 17th, 2009 | 3 comments

Our editorial team feels we should focus at the more serious and relevant side of brand marketing. But if you guys keep stalking me to post this video, who am I not to observe and listen? A guy starts to dance crazy at Sasquatch and soon he creates a dancing mob…

Let me try to make it relevant to brand marketers and companies. You probably have seen the T-Mobile Mob or the MC Hammer Mob (#4 in last week’s Viral Friday)

If you go back to the basic lessons of psychology and sociology, you will understand why most people can’t resist being part of a compelling movement of peers…
