Dramatic Chipmunk Breaks Out

Written by Laurens Bianchi on December 21st, 2009 | 2 comments

Dramatic Chipmunk is one of the most well know viral videos receiving tens of millions of views since the release in 2007. Despite the title, the five-second video actually features a prairie dog, who’s turning its head while the camera zooms in and dramatic music from the Frankenstein film plays on the background.

Curious what really happened with the chipmunk that day in the studio?
This video will show you more!

Written by Niels Bellaar on December 18th, 2009 | 4 comments

Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Christmas Light Hero. What do you get when you mix a Christmas Light show with Guitar Hero? Yes, Christmas Light Hero! The runner up spot is for Victoria’s Secret Commercial By Michael Bay. Bay, known for his action packed movies, probably thought making an action packed ad for Victoria’s Secret would be the next step. Man Drinking Fat completes this week’s top 3. This video is just disgusting. Which is exactly the point.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

Get our ViralBlog asset: the Viral Friday Widget! By default the widget shows you the latest Viral Friday, but it’ll also show you the seven most recent postings on ViralBlog.

Babysitter Let’s Kid Take Drugs

Written by Daan Jansonius on December 17th, 2009 | 4 comments

Earlier today a friend on Twitter (and in real life!!) directed me towards a video which showed footage of a babysitter and her uninvited boyfriend doing drugs in front of the kid they were supposed to look after. Think that’s bad? It got worse, as the careless young woman also let the kid get away with trying some of Amsterdam’s finest ‘herbs’ and ‘spices’.

The video got picked up by some of the biggest blogs and communities in Holland including GeenStijl and Dumpert, as well as main stream magazine HP de Tijd. But that’s not where the story ends….

Update: Evolution Of Dance

Written by Marc Metekohy on December 16th, 2009 | 2 comments

One of the most watched viral videos out there is Evolution Of Dance; all sort of dances shown by entertainer/ performer Judson Laipply. In January 2009 Judson announced he launched Evolution Of Dance 2. At ViralBlog we knew this would be a big hit again, but we were curious if part Deux could match the original version.

As you might know Evolution Of Dance has reached over 130 million views on YouTube since 2006, but what has part 2 done since it launched earlier this year?

But it seems that some people are starting to grow tired of the X-Factor winning candidate being Christmas number 1 almost by default. And it’s easy to understand why, here’s a list of the Christmas UK number 1s the last few years:

Coke Zero Facial Profiler Finds Your Look-alike

Written by Niels Bellaar on December 14th, 2009 | 2 comments

Have you ever met someone that looks just like you, just slightly different? Coke Zero aims to be just like regular cola, just slightly different; a nice hook for this Facebook Connect powered application called ‘Facial Profiler’.

In the simple Facebook app you allow Coke Zero access to your Facebook account and search for your photos. If you do not have enough pictures on your account you can either make one in the app with your webcam, or choose on to upload from your computer. Although very simple and maybe only entertaining the first time you use it, this is yet another clean piece of work by Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

Cracking Up Over Fireworks Campaign

Written by Eelke Mol on December 12th, 2009 | 1 comment

The Dutch organisation of consumer safety, Consument en Veiligheid, has launched a campaign called ‘Shit Happens’ to inform people about the dangers of fireworks. This is something they do every year, and every year they try to be as original as possible.

Shit Happens

This campaign is original indeed: apart from what happens to the victim, the creators have decided to put the focus on bystanders and not on the people lighting fireworks themselves.
