HBO Launches YouTube Video Sharing Channel

Written by Igor Beuker on February 29th, 2008 | no comments

With Def Comedy Jam and series like Entourage HBO is my favorite TV Broadcaster. When I vist New York, I always buy some DVD boxes at the HBO store.

HBO Channel

I was delighted when I read that HBO and YouTube have reached a deal in which YouTube will create a channel, giving users access to clips from popular HBO shows and full episodes of budding shows. See the HBO YouTube Channel here.

Fans will now be able to legally pass along clips from some of their favorite shows, as well as watch complete episodes of new shows they might want to add to their viewing repertoire.

Written by Igor Beuker on January 5th, 2008 | 5 comments

This item is about sexy girls, adult content, online video, e-commerce and fashion. Interested? Read along! The most widely known English translation of the Kama Sutra was made in 1883. The book gained global reputation for being the best of pornographic work. One age later, the adult industry monetized adult content on every digital channel, from internet to mobile phones.

Brands discovered fast that pretty girls and sexy babes could go viral easily and get free attention. Just take a look at Unilever’s Axe Effect. A while ago, I also wrote online video would beat the number of monthly Google searches in 2008. Yes Sir, online video is one of the important trends for 2008!

The fashion industry have been very slow online last decade and that’s an understatement. Actually fashion brands really have been ignoring trendy consumers terribly. But they are learning fast and I predict many fashion brands will start selling online in 2008.

And if fashion brands start combining pretty girls and e-commerce with trends like online video in a smart way like KnickerPicker does with it’s Online Dressing Room, fashion will go viral fast! It find it very slick, very smart and even writing about. What’s your opinion on KnickerPicker?

59% Of US Screenagers Create Content Online

Written by Igor Beuker on December 21st, 2007 | no comments

Today I did a LaComunidad trend workshop for Microsoft MSN in Amsterdam about online video, BGC, UGC and video advertising. Audience were brand marketers from Red Bull, Vodafone, L’OREAL and Beiersdorf. Other speakers were from MetrixLab and Universal Media.

We discussed pre-roll video ads, branded skins around videos, viral internet commercials, BGC and UGC and the video case study 2007 by the Online Publishers Association. The brand managers asked for more cases and research, so why not share some more studies?

That video will beat search in eyeballs in 2008 is a no-brainer. The number of watched online videos watched per month in the US only will hit 10 Billion in 2008 easily! The attending brands liked that trend.

The latest study from the Pew Internet & American Life Project finds that the next generation at least is switched on and producing content. The the study tells, 59% of all American teenagers engage in at least one form of online content creation.

Of those 35% of all teen girls blog, compared with 20% of online boys, and 54% of girls post photos online compared with 40% of online boys. Boys however like their video, with 19% of boys posting video online vs. 10% of girls.

Angry Kid: British Wanker Brat Hits BBC3?

Written by Igor Beuker on November 14th, 2007 | no comments

Did you happen to see Angry Kid? Is a series of stop motion animations from Darren Walsh at Aardman Animations, depicting the mini-adventures of a 15 year old British brat with an attitude problem. Yes Sir, British humor and most of the episodes contain adult content ;-)

Angry Kid is a combination of pixilation, mask replacement and live action. It is a technique pioneered by Walsh and involves taking a live actor, sitting perfectly still and being moved like a puppet, while masks are replaced, to give the effect of speech and shot frame by frame.

The Angry Kid series is currently shown on digital channel BBC Three between some shows from 9pm. Season One has been released on DVD in the UK, while both seasons are available to buy in Australia.

All the Angry Kid animations are free to watch and/or download on the Atom Films website. Due to the short length of each episode, Angry Kid has become famous for being downloaded to mobile phones and shown to friends at schools and workplaces.

Meet Angry Kids and his family at the official Angry Kid website. Learn more about Angry Kid at Wikipedia. Or check the episodes Angry Kid-Prostitute and Angry Kid- Wanker. How do you like these series? And do you know similar ones, post them below! (Tip: Daan at Onetomarket)

Winds of Change: Kodak Finally Getting Digital?

Written by Igor Beuker on November 7th, 2007 | 3 comments

Kodak was the company that really missed the digital era. It built factories in Asia producing traditional ‘photo rolls’, while the whole world was switching to digital camera’s. Missing this trend was a strategic mistake that costed Kodak many jobs and a loads of money.

But it seems that Kodak has got the digital trend this time? Seems like they claim it now? So, Kodak wanted to share it’s message clearly to all employees, at an event by showing a video.

But the ‘internal Kodak video message’ was uploaded to YouTube by somebody. Please be careful: the story about this stolen Kodak video is hearsay only. The story comes from a trusted viral spy out of our extended global network.

Maybe our community members can tell us more about this Kodak video? If Kodak sews us for publishing this video, I will let you know….
