The product, called Aqua Maris For-Home, is used for nose cleansing and contains 30 sea salt bags and a neti pot. The creative agencies <a href="http://www.wefilm.nl/#/home">WeFilm</a> and <a href="http://novocortex.com/">Novocortex</a>  decided to connect Aqua Maris with Jala Neti, the yoga technique of daily nose cleansing with seawater, practised by millions of people around the world.</p>
<p>In order to get attention of online audiences, they organized the Aqua Maris World Championship Jala Neti in Amsterdam and put live coverage of the 5 Litre Men’s Final, won by Fedor Konyukhov of Russia, on YouTube. <strong>Within 2 weeks this viral had over 350.000 views on YouTube only</strong>.</p>
<p>The created atmosphere around the Viral is unbelievable as they  increased credibility of the Viral by establishing the <a href="http://ifjn.org/">International Federation Jala Neti </a>(IFJN) in Lausanne and designed a whole motherload of communication around this event.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last weekend <strong>Weetabix</strong> launched a new advertising campaign. To my mind, Weetabix is far from an exciting brand. If anything, it is old fashioned, out dated and well, far from relevant.</p>

<p>Jon Stewart, of The Daily Show fame, really summed it up for me when he said:</p>
<p><span id="more-19828"></span>&#8220;To the <a title="NATO" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO">NATO</a> Allies that we met. The troops from the other countries that were there. That give so much. Your service is much appreciated. But that is no excuse to introduce <strong>Weetabix</strong> to our troops. I&#8217;m Sorry. That is not a breakfast. That is a building material.&#8221;</p>
<p>They are working hard to change that image. With help of their agency, London based BBH, they have grabbed many opportunities that the online world offers to ensure this ad has a life beyond the square box.</p>
<p>First the ad itself. It&#8217;s about a 9 year old girl, clearly so excited by her new breakfast itual that she does a dance routine which would have made Michael Jackson blush. Oh, and there are stuffed teddy bears break dancing too (why wouldn&#8217;t there be).</p>
<p>Of course a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/WeetabixFoodCo">branded YouTube channel</a> was launched. Yawn, right? Wrong. The content hosted on this channel is actually very good. Behind the scenes are becoming best practice, but the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/WeetabixFoodCo#p/c/6320D39F703E2BE7/1/JR-UJn7SDfQ">step by step</a> break down of all the dance moves is very clever. </p>
<p>People love imitating content they like (for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=soulja+boy+crank+that&amp;aq=f">example</a>, or <a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+office+wedding+dance&amp;aq=f">this</a>) .  By providing a step by step tutorial they have made it incredibly easy for people to learn the dance moves. Expect imitation videos to start hitting YouTube pages near you soon!</p>
<p>The other aspect I liked was the involvement from the agency. Whilst the ad was airing, people from the agency were monitoring Twitter for reactions and retweeting people talking about the ad.</p>

<p>It could be argued this is spammy and these tweets are entirely self serving. And that may partially be true. A retweet is not entirely engaging. Perhaps the client should have done this with <em>their</em> Twitter account, rather than the agency. </p>
<p>However, the fact they are paying attention to what people are saying about the brand and that is a definite step in the right direction.</p>
<p>Our first advice to clients is to start listening first. Weetabix and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/bbhlondon">BBH London</a> clearly are. Now let&#8217;s see those moves!</p>

<p>The “fight” for the crown between the Old Old Spice Guy <strong>Isaiah Mustafa</strong> and not so appealing <strong>Fabio</strong> through reactions on tweets, news articles and so on made it really an interactive conversation.</p>

<p>Some stated that it was not such an original idea for a popularity contest and also that the winner was know from the beginning, plus it was attempt to refresh the already 18 month-old <strong>“The Man Your Man Could Smell Like”</strong> campaign.</p>
<p>When looking at this campaign it&#8217;s important to say that Old Spice understood how to extend the story which originally started on television and connect it.</p>
<p>Moreover, continued the story &#8211; here&#8217;s Old Spice Guy, than comes the &#8220;wannabe&#8221; <a title="New Old Spice Guy Fabio YouTube's channel" href="http://www.youtube.com/user/newoldspiceguyfabio" target="_blank">new Old Spice Guy Fabio</a>  and the challenge starts.</p>

<p>The two twitter accounts of <a title="New Old Spice Guy Fabio @ Twitter" href="http://twitter.com/#!/fabiooldspices" target="_blank">Fabio </a>and <a title="Isaiah Mustafa @ Twitter" href="http://twitter.com/#!/ISAIAHMUSTAFA" target="_blank">Mustafa </a>were part of the battleground and both of them answered some of the questions/remarks/notes of users on their twitter account and also on YouTube channels through short videos.</p>
<p>And some key learnings for others? Even if the original idea of the campaign is becoming old, there are always ways to refresh it. Next, the simplest idea works the best. Even though the duel may seem old-fashioned, it still works as people like to see challenges, moreover enjoy if they can influence the results.</p>

<p>With 500,000 clip views in just 10 days, the video is really going viral. And let me be clear: I like the video. But, since viral is a mean and not the goal, the most important question is: What is this video doing for the K-Swiss brand? </p>
<p>Did you recognize the K-SWISS brand in the video? Or should I ask: What K-Swiss <strong>brand</strong> do you mean? The USA one, the EMEA one or&#8230; </p>

What I mean is this: In the <strong>US</strong> K-Swiss could best be described as &#8216;urban street life&#8217; or hip-hop loaded brand. In Europe the K-Swiss brand seems to be transforming itself from former tennis brand towards high end fashion brand.</p>
<p>With MFCEO Kenny Powers K-Swiss is not only going viral, it seems to have chosen for a new direction that might be best described as Diesel &#8216;Be Stupid&#8217;. </p>
<p>But on a rainy day, not long ago, K-SWISS US got talking about how advertising is largely crap, so they decided to rip up the rule books and GO GONZO. </p>
<p>What’s GONZO? Well, it’s about living life to the fullest and booting life up the ass. It’s about looking out at the rain coming down and seeing Californian sunshine and more. </p>
<p>So see where all is mashed-up together at K-Swiss&#8217; new <a href=" http://gonzoworld.com/" title="K-Swiss Gonzoworld" target="_blank">Gonzoworld</a>. </p>

<p>It all started with a teaser, which hit almost 300K views in few days, announcing something special to happen on Friday 15 April 2011 at midday. If you were among those patiently waiting ones, you know it was delayed. In my opinion it was worth waiting, will glad hear yours.</p>

<p>The video got pretty viral with more than 3 million views since Friday. T-Mobile hired some pretty good lookalikes of the Royal Family and it features a hit song from once famous UK boy band <a title="East 17 at Wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_17" target="_blank">East 17</a>.</p>
