Samsung 3D YouTube Take Over Game
Recently we posted Samsung 3D Projection On Historic Building. A projection interacted with the historic architecture of the Beurs van Berlage, creating a spectacular 3D visual and audio experience for those present.
Great idea, great experience. But it doesn’t end here as Samsung released a YouTube page take-over, which recreated the experience again in a full page.
After the start of the video, the whole page starts cracking open, just as in the 3D video, a countdown starts and a scoreboard ticks away as you capture as many of the 3D butterflies as possible. If you submit your score you can win a Samsung TV.
See a video of this expercience below:
You can check out the experience here.

Very cool. I really appreciate take overs especially where video is integrated. Do you know the take over by Nissan at nu.nl a few weeks ago? If not I can send you a link to the video.
I prefer this kind of takeovers more than, the one you mention. This is innovative, interactive (as you can play a game and win stuff).
Most takeovers in sites like Nu.nl I find annoying, but that is just my opinion
Hi Laurens, I appreciate your opinion but I don’t agree if it concerns our Nissan take over. Because that was whit video and als interactive elements. If you can give me your e-mail adres and I will send you the link to the take over
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comment!
My point is that I don’t like take overs on websites like Nu.nl, Telegraaf.nl, or any other kind of newssite. I visit these sites to read the latest news. I find these takeovers highly irritating and irrelevant. Perhaps some people will disagree with me, but I believe that there’s a big majority that will agree with me.
YouTube is an (video) entertainment site. People are not forced to watch the Samsung takeover, they choose to, after clicking on a video banner. So this takeover is in my opinion more relevant and less irritating than others.
Many publisher tend to conclude from their own point of view and believe that, even when it’s well made, that audiences like push media. Sorry I don’t.
Take overs like the one you refer to, are appearing on your screen, even if you didn’t asked for it. The first thing I always do, is trying to find the “X” which cancels the take over, some of these “X”s are difficult to find in take overs, cannot be a coincidence…
For me, there’s a big difference between Samsung’s take over and the one you rerer to.
I’ve mailed you my email through Linkedin! Looking forward to see your case.
@Mark
Ok, I’ve seen the Nissan take over you’ve send me. I must admit, I don’t think this one is annoying, because it doesn’t block any regular Nu.nl content.
What I meant with annoying are take overs that are blocking content from websites etc.
Thanks!
