Booming Growth Of Smartphones And Apps

Regular mobile phones are dying and the global market of smartphones and apps is booming as more and more people are shifting towards smartphones.

Smartphone And Apps Booming Growth Of Smartphones And Apps

Apple’s App Store, Android Market and other mobile app stores like Ovi Store and Blackberry’s App World provide users with handy apps and many cannot imagine their lives without mobile internet, GPS and various apps.

The number of smartphones shipments is expected to be almost one billion in 2015, with Chinese smartphone users leading the growth of daily app usage.

In December 2011 the Android Market surpassed 400,000 app mark, doubling the number of available applications only in 8 months.

It can be said that there is “an app for everything” but I’d doubt that. Anyhow, it is and will be a growing market and CMOs should focus on the needs of their customers, an app can help them decide in the process or just be handy when they need it – e.g. what to cook, where to go for drink or also where to crash a wedding.

Lookout, a mobile security company created this infographic, mapping the share of the market, comparing adoption of mobile apps in several countries and much more.

Love the post. Its indeed amazing how ie Nokia and other brands have been asleep for so long.

iPhone is setting the benchmark but Samsung might copy the 4S fast with a wider screen.

Tabs and second screen might even become first screen sooner than we ever imagined..

    Cheers

    Hi Martin,

I agree. From a marketing prespective, apps are great windows to engage as a brand and add value for your customers.

Nice article, I read a nice promotion.. The Apple App Store is about to hit their 25th billion download. The winner might get a $10.000 App Store Gift Card. It’s quite an amount to spend.

Crazy how much Apps already are downloaded.

    • Thanks Steven. On the other hand, most of the apps are really useless (I Am Rich;) and maybe also harmful for smart-phone (not talking about getting your private data) and in this case I like Apple’s approach – the app has to be validated and confirmed…will see where will it bring us…

I wonder if the line of Android’s market share continues to rise in the coming years… Do you know if these figures are similar to the European figures?
