2008 MTV Viral Movie Awards Spoof Contest
Shoot it. Upload. And win. That’s how MTV invites consumers to be part of the 2008 MTV Movie Awards-Movie Spoof Contest. A great viral idea by MTV.
Are you resourceful enough to make a hysterical movie spoof with absolutely no budget? If you are, you could find yourself standing onstage June 1 at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, receiving a Golden Popcorn statuette for Best Movie Spoof.
Seven finalists will win a trip to attend the big show and take home a sweet little Flip Video camcorder. But only the amateur auteur whose spoof collects the most votes on mtv.com will walk away with the MTV Movie Awards Golden Popcorn trophy!
Your masterpiece viral video must be less than three minutes in length and cannot contain any copyrighted music or video that you did not create yourself. Your spoof must be submitted via one of the MTV partner sites: Break, Buzznet, Daily Motion, Funny Or Die, Heavy, MySpace or Photobucket by May 11 2008.
Finalists will be announced on May 19 and voting will open for the public to decide who will win!

I just wanted to give you a quick update – the deadline for the “Spoof to Win” contest has been extended.
The MTV contest will now be open until 11:59:59 on May 19th.
Additionally, each eligible entrant will receive two free movie tickets. For more rules and information, you can check out http://www.dailymotion.com/group/SpoofToWin.
Nice version of UGC working for Brands! Instead of Brands that work for Users….Uh or was it the other way around?
Just encountered a Italian initiative called ZOOPPA.COM.
They are a Social Advertising Agency, they Pitch and the users are challenged to create an advertisement, in the form of Print, Video, Audio etc. The users then vote for the winning creative and that creative is used for the campaign.
The winner gets paid for his/her creative work.
Isn’t that how it should be? Even if it is UGC, if it’s good enough, I think the producer should get paid, that way they can pay for their own exclusive trip/party….
Don’t get me wrong, I like this idea of MTV, but if we want to take UGC serious and if we want the quality of UGC to improve…..I think the ZOOPPA way, will do the trick.
Fair Enough?
Best,
John
I recently submitted this video for a Cheetos contest!
