Compassion: Non Profit Viral Video
Every once in a while we come across social media initiatives to help non profit organizations. Campaigns that can’t rely on huge media budgets to raise awareness and thus have to be strong enough to make it on their own in the harsh social media landscape.
Just a few days ago Tom, with Compassion, sent us this newscast on saving the last child living in extreme poverty. Compassion are just beginning to promote the video and so far they have only sent it out to approximately 100 people as part of the soft launch and 3,104 people have viewed the video. We would love to see how this video spreads over the web.
The main objective for Compassion is to persuade 300 people to sponsor a child. In order to realize this goal the video is spread among the public by sending it to influential bloggers, pushing it on the Compassion blog, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The Twitter and Facebook accounts have over 42,000 followers / fans, so if all these people would watch the video and send it to three of their friends, Compassion has a potential viral.
What do you think? Has this video what it takes for a non profit organization like Compassion to raise awareness and match their objectives? And if not, what would you do?

I’m not sure whether the video is compelling enough. At least not for me who live in India!
