Improv Everywhere: Star Wars

Regular readers have seen quite some good stuff by Improv Everywhere here on this blog. This new Star Wars video has only been on YouTube for 5 days and has 2 million views and counting.

Previous Improv Everywhere pranks were fascinating because of the giant masses that were involved. This improvisation is also fascinating but in this case it’s probably the well-known characters and the fabulous costumes that do the trick.

The innocent commuters get sucked into a Star Wars adventure where Princess Leia gets captured by a group of Storm Troopers on a mission issued by Darth Vader.  The costumers were a loan from the guys at College Humor, who had made some Star Wars videos of their own, tells the Improv Everywhere website.

The thing I particularly love about Improv Everywhere is that they manage to get people out of the rut of their daily life/subway ride by doing original, but particularly non-violent and non-discriminating things. They make people laugh, and not because someone else gets hurt or gets made fun of, but because something is genuinely funny. I suggest Improv Everywhere take their antics across the seas and start up in some other countries :D

More to come, as always they’ve created a ‘making of’ which should air on their YouTube channel within a couple of days.
