Travis Pastrana & Red Bull Fly Into 2010
By now we all are familiar with what skillful driving and a rally car can do; 2009 was Ken Block’s year. But Ken is not the only rally showman; meet his Subaru teammate Travis Pastrana.
Three years ago Block set the jump record of 171 feet, and for Red Bull’s New Years, No Limits series Pastrana wanted to break that record by over 100 feet. And he succeeded. Since 31 December the video got 580,827 views on YouTube, but there’s more…
And off course Red Bull build up the tension to this stunt very well. First there was this teaser, shot at a practice run, where Travis crashes his car. And while there always are cameras everywhere on these shoots, this video does not show the crash. Can you feel the anxiety?
Then there was another practice video, and another one, and a final one. All together the videos got viewed over 1.5 million times.
You might say it’s easy for Red Bull, as they do so many cool and worth-watching events, to create this kind of attention with ‘only’ some videos. We think other brands have this opportunity too; with so many sponsorships going on there is always a group of loyal brand fans waiting for you to supply them with cool content. And you may attract some new fans in the process (I still don’t buy Red Bull though).
