My Opinion

The launch and success of Vine is still fresh in my memory. Also the Twitter IPO was a milestone to many people in our industry.

When Facebook offered $3 billion to acquire Snapchat, most of us were very surprised. But everybody was shocked when Snapchat said “no thank you”.

Facebook might encounter a rough 2014. Because so many ‘screenagers’ are leaving the platform to avoid their ‘socializing’ parents. Keeping screenagers close could be the real reason why Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion.

In a recent story about Viber, I predicted the acquisition of WhatsApp already. My valuation was $1.2 billion however, not $19 billion Mister Zuckerberg!

Good old YouTube keeps growing along with the meta trend called social video. I predict that YouTube will finally become a cash cow for Google.

The Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin hype in 2013 was even more surprising to me and many of my peers.

I was a bit disappointed about the lack of stunning formats from the social tv and social games companies in 2013. But I trust that a few players will rock our socks off in 2014.
