Revisited: iPad Will It Blend Video Statistics

Okay, so here we are again talking about blending expensive stuff. Only this time we are going to dive a bit deeper into the ViralTracker metrics for the immensely viral iPad blending video.

The video is already at almost 5,5 million views on YouTube. It got there in juist 12 days. But what does the ‘lifeline’ of this video look like in ViralTracker?

Sadly, the graph for this video is no longer visible on YouTube statistics for a regular YouTube viewer like me so comparing is impossible. If it were still visible, I could have showed that the only thing the YouTube graph reveals is cumulative views. And even though that can be interesting and even useful at times, it also draws maybe an unjustified pretty picture.

Here we see what the video does in absolute views per day. You can see that by now the number of views per day is not even 1,5% of the number of views the video had 10 days ago. For a marketeer this can be an incredibly useful insight when trying to reach certain campaign targets using video.

In this ViralTracker graph you can also get a good look at the long tail of this video (even though it’s not that long yet). Compared to the flying start, the last couple of days look a bit empty. But you have to keep in mind that 1,5% of 1,1 million views is still over 10,000 views per day which is a lot for most videos. This video has quite a big shock factor (at least for all iPad owners and all the people who want one) and as I said before, it’s really cool to watch something you are not allowed to try at home :) I think this long tail is going to be quite long indeed.
