Amazon Expanding Retail With Kindle Kiosk Vending Machines

We have covered the amazing vending machines of Coke and Pepsi here, but now Amazon surprised us with its Kindle Kiosk vending machines.

Amazon started to experiment with third-party retail stores last year, in order to expand its Kindle business outside the web.

Discover more about the retail battle between Apple, Best Buy and Amazon.

Amazon Launching Kindle Kiosk Vending Machines

Vending machines and kiosk stations selling hardware at airports and malls gave on-the-go consumers the offline one-stop-shopping experience.

Companies like Apple and Best Buy already seized this opportunity to expand their retail exposure and revenues.

But since Amazon is the king of the one-stop-shopping experience, Jeff Bezos is taking his Kindle Kiosk vending machines to the street.

Last year Amazon installed many kiosks at hot shopping locations and events nationwide. Here consumers can buy the Kindle Fire tablets and accessories.

To underline that he means serious business, Bezos pushed the machine at this year’s CES event in Las Vegas.

My Opinion

Will the Kindle Kiosk vending machines become a success? I am convinced they will; both branding and business wise. Why?

Like David Ogilvy said:

Set your sights! Blaze new trails! Compete with the immortals!

And that is exactly what Jeff Bezos is doing. To me he even is the emperor of the immortals.

I know that many of us don’t get Bezos strategies at once, but trust me: It takes an architect to vision and build cathedrals. Everything else is just bricks in a wall.

And about developing thick skin, Jeff Bezos once stated:

Often times invention requires a long term willingness to be misunderstood.

Now you will probably understand the heading visual I created…

Trust me, I have been working with Amazon during my years at WPP, you can expect more from Bezos.

Here you can find more of our stories on vending machines.

What About You?
How surprised are you about the Kindle kiosk? Will it become a hit machine for Amazon?
