Apple Presents iOS7 And More Features At WWDC 2013

In 2013, Apple has been “keeping on the DL” about their latest products. While their rivals have been announcing every basic update month to month, Apple has been quietly working on new ideas to dazzle their faithful customers.

Apple Presents iOs7 And More Features At WWDC 2013

The keynote position at the 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday June 10th was held by Apple where they presented the new iOS 7 for the iPhone and iPad, the new OS X.

And a few more new updates.

1. The new iOS 7

The new iOS 7 is the most anticipated Apple product. Ever since Apple added John Ive, Head of Design, to their executive leadership team, iPhone fans have been looking forward to the new updates. The iOS 7 is expected to have a flat appearance.

Applications like Notepad, Calendar, and Reminders will have a simpler design with white/gray/silver, and black colors. Recognizable textures like mahogany wood (Compass), casino theme (Game Center), and linen (Notifications) will be simplified to just one color.

Beyond the basic look, iOS 7 is expected to come with “gaze tracking” technology and improved keyboard functions.

2. Camera

Besides the improving camera quality, Apple is planning to add custom filters to the camera software. The filters will be similar to those used by Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

The iPhone 5 is currently equipped with an 8 megapixel camera which will definitely be upgraded to compete with Android devices.

3. Siri and Apple Maps

When it comes to Siri, Apple has put great effort into improving the application’s in-car integration. The company has been looking to get applications like Siri and Apple Maps directly integrated into navigational systems.

Modern car consoles may look forward to built-in GPS and voice activated systems later this year.

4. The OSX 10.9

It’s no surprise Apple introduced the new OS X 10.9. This is the tenth release of the Mac operating system whose code name is “Cabernet”. The new version will include many new features specially designed for OS X with a few ideas from the iOS.

It is more than certain that the entire appearance will have Jony Ive’s simple and flat design. Just like iOS, users skip from application to application to save battery and performance.

The OS X will reportedly have the same “quick-app-switching” feature. This will come in handy especially for laptops.

5. AirDrop

The concept of AirDrop will allow Mac users to transfer files between one another through Wi-Fi. Apple is currently working on creating the possibility for Apple users to share files in near proximity without Wi-Fi.

It has been a long time since the company has announced anything except the fall of their stock prices so the latest updates from the WWDC 2013 is a breath of fresh air.

Even though we know Apple isn’t going anywhere, a few updates leading to a magnificent comeback is all we’re looking for.

My Opinion
Apple has been fairly quiet in the past year but we shouldn’t expect that for long.

While other companies are bragging about their minor achievements, I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in store.

It’s a little overdue for releases like the latest iOS and it will be interesting to see what they come out with
