Dr Pepper Status Take Over
Dr Pepper is the latest brand to jump on the Facebook bandwagon. But they have gone a few steps beyond the more traditional display advertising options the social network has to offer. Like Burger King with the Whopper Sacrifice before them, they have jumped on a cultural phenomenon to engage people with the brand.

Where Burger King realised that many users were simply friending people to get their numbers of, Dr Pepper has seen many of us are growing tired of the inane status updates of our friends.
So they have created a Facebook Application which allows Dr Pepper to take control of your Facebook status updates. The app allows you to chose from various updates ranging from mildly annoying to outright embarrasing. The more embarrasing the update the more points you’ll get – with a £1,000 prize going to the winners of the competition.
Dr Pepper taking over your status updates and broadcasting it to all your online friends – what’s the worst that could happen?
