Ford’s Smart Social Media Marketing Approach

Today I spotted an interesting interview with Scott Monty, head of social media for Ford Motor Company about social networking on Fox News. Ford has really understood social marketing is not about putting a banner on Facebook’s homepage and all about the commitment to get the brand integrated in a viral ways that matter to users…

In the interview Ford proves it knows it needs to listen to users by interaction with them in social networks. In the interview we also see Mike Howard, COO of Kiwibox. I hope the interview gave marketers and agencies a better understanding of the power of social media marketing?

But brands please remember, your media agency will tell you to run an advertising campaign, so you can reach many people cheap. But please think again: is social media marketing all about launching your banners on a social site, or is social marketing all about conversations, together, listen, learn, interact, and engage?

We feel Scott Monty has explained it very well in his interview. If you are used to solve everything with advertising, see all about Obama’s extreme social marketing skills.

To give you a complete overview of the do’s and don’ts of social media marketing, we also added this Joseph Jaffe’s video about the social marketing mistakes of 5 big brands.
