How To Better Measure Social Efforts?
You hear it again and again – how can you prove that your social media campaign and efforts are worth the time and money spent? Do CMOs believe in all those likes, tweets, shares and pins?
Here comes the Digital Index that analyzed 1.7 billion visits to media, retail, and travel sites to understand social media’s impact on website traffic. And the results?
The results show that the last-click attribution models typically used by marketers underestimate social media’s value. First click attribution showed social media’s value to be nearly twice as high what is a significant difference that could change how marketers invest and perceive different social media channels.
Click on the infographic below for a full view of the Adobe Digital Index to out more details about the analysis.
How do you perceive the findings and are they useful for your business?

Very nice, what I found funny to see is that Pinterest has a good use for getting user feedback on the clothes of a store and to see if a lot of people like the stuff, so they can make better choices based upon their peer group. Do you think Pinterest can even grow out to become the number 1 driver for traffic to retailers?
not sure about pinterest becoming #1 for traffic, but let’s see what will happen…

I only see opportunities for the CMO’s, what are the barriers?
Their DNA, their company DNA..
their misunderstanding of social media marketing, sticking to traditional channels instead of innovation,…shall I continue?
What social measurement tools are best for those just starting out in social media who have a limited budget allowed for resources? Tips anyone?
Hi Craig
There are so many free and cheap tools out there. We’ve mapped over 650.
Could you make it a bit more specific pls: what kind of tools are you looking for? Specific needs, channels etc?
Cheers
Igor
While it remains true that Facebook is the biggest social site at the moment, it isn’t necessarily the best one to use for business marketing. The recent boom in Pinterest users and the style of its page are indicating that pinning will become the next big thing in online marketing.
Hi Ozio
Might be very true! We are doing a piece on social media’s visual revolution.. so stay tuned.
Cheers
