Stop motion videos are hot. We are coming across new videos using this technique on a daily basis. It usually provides a pretty cool looking video, but somtimes leaves you wondering why it is relevant to the brand. That’s why this video for the Olympus PEN stood out.

It’s the second video in the PEN story series, the previous version received well over 2 million views, and uses images shot on the Olympus PEN to tell its story.

Stop motion is very much like the old school flip books, it’s a series of images which – if flicked through quickly – turn into a video of sorts. This means the technique lends itself perfectly for a company trying to sell a video camera. They used the camera to shoot 355 pictures, printed them on billboards and filmed these again on the PEN camera in real life situations using the stop motion principle.

The video has only received 35,000 views so far, but it does well to work the product’s USP into its story telling and certainly has potential to attract many more views in the days and weeks to come.
