Top 10 Social Media Blogs: The 2012 Winners!

In December 2011 we found out that ViralBlog was nominated to Top 10 Social Media Blogs 2012 at Social Media Examiner. Earlier this month we were among the Top 20 Finalists and waited impatiently for the results.

Today the winners were announced, and guess what?! Thanks to you we made it!

ViralBlog is on the second place among Top 10 Social Media Blogs 2012 by the Social Media Examiner, a third-annual social media blog contest.

We were among  nearly 600 nominations that were generated this year!

A panel of social media experts (Andy Sernovitz – author, Word of Mouth Marketing & CEO, SocialMedia.org, Rick Calvert  - CEO, BlogWorld, and Michael Stelzner author, Launch & CEO, Social Media Examiner) reviewed the nominees and finalists.

The Final Winner Selection was based on the following criteria:

• Quality of posts: The judges examined and scored the quality of posts on each blog. Educational and discussion-spurring posts are more valuable than self-promoting posts (55% of decision).
• Frequency of posts: Blogs that feature multiple posts per week scored higher. This is a sign of the blogger’s commitment to blogging (15%).
• Reader involvement: Blogs that have regular comments from readers are another sign of a healthy blog. In addition, the numbers of nominations for a specific blog play a part in this (15%).
• Blog ranking: The number of other blogs that link to the nominated blog shows the value of the content (15%). Accepted third-party blog ranking systems were used for this portion of the score.
