Insights In Apple’s Will It Blend? Videos
Stuff you are not allowed to try at home is usually really cool to watch. The guys at Will It Blend have cleverly tapped into this by putting everything you can imagine in a blender. The result is lots of viral videos, like this latest one blending the iPad.
What other Will It Blend videos are popular? And do we see a trend rising?
Looking at the most popular blending videos on the channel, we see that Apple products get a high amount of views. The iPhone blending video has been viewed 8.069.435 times since July 2007, then we have the iPhone 3G (why? Would it blend differently than the first iPhone?) with 4.439.896 views since July 2008 and now the iPad with 2.406.411 views in just 2 days.
A few things stand out when looking at the YouTube statistics for these videos. To start off with, the two iPhone videos got their views almost solely from YouTube search results, related videos or the YouTube homepage. The iPad video views all seem to be coming from the various blog postings discussing the video.
Second, the videos have not once taken a plunge in views. Even though the charts cover different periods of time, they look roughly the same with a diagonal line steadily creeping its way up. Apparently these videos literally never get old.
Last, the video audience is mostly male for all three videos but the iPad video has a significantly older audience: 35-54 whereas the iPhone video audience age ranges from 13 to 44. This is probably because the iPhone is an appealing product for younger people who grew up with advanced mobile phones. The iPad however is a bit out of these younger people’s budget. Next to a laptop and desktop computer the iPad is something extra that you wouldn’t really buy because you need it but because you want it. This is something older people can afford because they have a bigger budget.
Using ViralTracker we can see how the iPad video did in these few days. The blue line below marks the absolute number of clip views and red line marks the cumulative number of clip views.
In a follow up article I will elaborate some more on these Will It Blend videos and compare them using ViralTracker.
Why do we like to use ViralTracker? It shows the aggregated number of clip views generated on 350 other video portals around the globe, not only the ones on YouTube. Play this ViralTracker video demo if you are interested to discover the difference.
And if you have seen our Obama social media marketing case study, you might remember that YouTube sometimes is only 25-50% of the total number of clip views. And why not get all clip views, insights and other “intel” on your radar?

For sure that everyone thinks youtube.com is God in what comes to count clip views. It’s good with this post you say it loud and clear.
