Oprah Winfrey Flash Mob Dance

For the official opening of Oprah Winfrey’s 24th Season (2009-10) the Black Eyed Peas performed “I Gotta Feeling” for 21,000 fans on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. What Oprah didn’t knew in advance, that al these fans suddenly started one big flash mob dance…

Oprah and Black Eyed Peas

Thousands of people showed up on Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago, which was shut down for the Oprah Block Party.

The dance started from single women and rapidly it spread among all of the people, gathered there. See the video here:

You can check the flash mob here from above (amature footage):

Oprah was much surprise on this out class reaction of the crowd. She was completely unaware with such kind of response by the public.  She commented on the performance: “That was the coolest thing ever” and we definitely agree on that. The producer, Michael Gracey, was also responsible for the famous flash mob dance at a Liverpool train station that was used for T-Mobile,  but the Oprah flash mob was much larger in scale.

It seems that this is another viral succes for Oprah. We posted before that Oprah is becoming a rising star in the social universe, with this kind of content her star is even rising more!

See also here the Oprah Flash Mob Tutorial video, if you feel like to dance together with the video in your living room. Niels Bellaar, one of our bloggers, tried it and he felt enlighted and exciting at the same time :-)

Update: It seems that this Flash Mob was sponsored by T-mobile. See here for more

Update: The Youtube video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Harpo, Inc., we’ve embedded an approved version.

I actually started to CRY watching this stupid thing! LOL I was just thinking How freakin AWESOME that so many people are coming together and doing the same thing?! (thinking on a deeper level I guess). Then I thought I’ve been out of the loop WAY too long because I didn’t know this dance too (assumed it was the 2nd coming of “The Hustle.”) (showin my age now, lol)
LOL… AWESOME is the only way to describe it. Totally freakin Awesome!

SAME HERE!! I went through so many levels of amazement watching this…

Not to mention PRIDE in MY HOME TOWN!!!

I have been “out of The Loop” for far too long myself – drizzle, drazzle, drozzle, drome, time for THIS ONE to come HOME!!!

  • fake says:

Is everyone in Chicago a complete ass-clown?

How complete fake and commercial… “look spontaneous love.”

    Amazing? try totally staged.

If you started crying you need to get a life.

Although I will say the chick standing in the middle of it very very hot.
    LOL

  • So, let me get this right.

A group of people, for free, get involved in a massive flash mob dance and surprise Oprah Winfrey and they SHE and her company decide that they own this and try to prevent people from distributing it?

Oh, but there’s an official one?

Seems like Oprah hasn’t quite grasped that this is a community event which a community group created. If not for them she wouldn’t have had the video in the first place…these things are public regardless of her desire for control and ownership.

People should remember that if it wasn’t for the generosity of those involved in such things, they wouldn’t exist.

Stop trying to profit from such things by grasping them with greedy, selfish hands.

  • Wendy Page says:

Now that the moment is over –

May I say that the negative reaction expressed by a surprising number of people to this massive generation of positive energy only reflects an immense need for MORE mass dancing.

    Vive La Dance

cool video to watch. It looks completely fake in terms of ’spontaneity’, but I suppose if you were present, it would seem real.

But SERIOUSLY, the blogger who wrote this entry needs to proofread her work. This coverage is riddled with typos and poor grammar, issues which make me run from a website. Kind of appalling for someone who is supposed to be media.

  • Jacqui says:

AT LAST!!! Collective conciousness has taken off! well done to t-mobile for orchistrating the FIRST mass conciousness! Powerfull stuff!!!
    Humnankind in unison..for once!!!!
