The Evolution Of Online Messages & Yahoo! Mail
Yahoo Mail was founded in 1996 when investment banker JoJo Healy invested in the company to form a free webmail client. A year later, on October 8, 1997, Yahoo! Mail officially launched a free e-mail service for Internet users, based on the popular RocketMail technology of Four11.
The early days of the World Wide Web
To promote the all-new Yahoo! Mail Pod Digital Design from Lexington, Massachusetts created the promotional video “Communication Evolution”.
The animated music video, released February 12th, takes an animated journey through the evolution of online messages in the lifetime of the fictional user “johnny5″, from dial-up days in high school, the world-wide-web in college, to today’s mobile and advanced email tools (like Yahoo! Mail) in his sky rocketing personal and professional adultlife.

The video celebrates the changes in communication technology over 25 years, and the generation of people who have grown up with it. Yahoo enters the picture with “Jerry and Davids Guide to World Wide Web” and “Rocket Mail”, which became Yahoo! Mail.

Dial-up days in high school
The video, animated by Optic Sugar, was released via online video channels the week of February 12th, and will eventually be promoted off of the Yahoo! Mail landing pages. No other paid media is planned for the video. The music video features the song “Those Days” by Shitake Monkey from their Street Beef album.
