1. Bare Essentials Of Safety
Always thought the safety instruction videos in airplanes were boring? Think again! Air New Zealand launched a new in flight safety video on their domestic 737 services, in which some of the crew volunteered to wear nothing but body paint while explaining the safety instructions.
The video is part of the ‘Nothing to hide‘ campaign (earlier we featured another viral from this campaign in Viral Friday). By means of this campaign Air New Zealand wants to prove that what you see is what you pay: in contradiction to most low-cost airlines who often surprise you with extra charges to the fares.
Next to in flight use, the video was shot for Air New Zealand’s television campaign, and now online the video has gone viral. Many blogs posted the video, it got over 850 tweets and MSN, NY Times, LA Times, the Telegraph and Channel Seven Australia reported on the remarkable video. At YouTube, the video got over 3.5 million views. At their website, the airline company also released a blooper version, always nice to watch. And even this variant already generated over 300,000 views on YouTube.
2. Evian Roller Babies
Evian, the world famous French brand of mineral water has just launched a new viral. Did Evian introduce the successful Water babies with babies jumping and dancing in the pool, this time all attention is taken by the babies on rollerskates. Evian shows what drinking Evian will do to your body. The movie has the right ingredients for true viral success: babies, retro music and stunts. The somewhat strange movie is at the same time very appealing and babies are very heartwarming and very adorable.
The babies are a huge success achieving more than 2,5 million views worldwide. Babies are almost every time a ticket to success: look at the E*Trade’s laughing baby.
Evian can be very happy with the result. Evian, bring out your dancing shoes (or skates), because it’s party time!
3. Fireworks By PES
Adam Pesapane, aka PES, released another stop motion video: Fireworks. The video was posted on YouTube on the 1st of July, so that was just in time for one of the biggest firework events of the year, the fourth of July. The video got positive reponses online and set the mood for the Independence Day over in the States. The video now already generated over 500 tweets and almost 600,000 views on YouTube.
4. Eternal Moonwalk
It’s like CNN said, Michael Jackson died and almost took the internet with him. Last week Viral Friday featured the inmate’s tribute to the King of Pop, this week it’s Studio Brussel, a Belgium radio station, who pay MJ a final tribute. Together with group94 and Mortierbrigade they launched the website Eternalmoonwalk.com. The website features hundreds of people from all over the world (and some animals and objects) attempting to recreate the Moonwalk. Users can upload their version of Michael Jackson’s moonwalk, and each video is placed adjacent to the previous one to create a perpetual virtual moonwalk. Over 3,200 people retweeted the website, on July 7 the site was FWA Site of the Day and received over 480,000 visits.
5. Sour ‘Hibi No Neiro’
Sour, a Japanese band, existing of 3 members: Hoshijima (guitar) Sohey (Bass) and Kennnn (drums), asked their fans to create a clip for their new song. The co-creation of filming the clip for the song “Hibi no neiro” has resulted in a very nice clip with 64 selected fans from all over the world. A web cam and a piece of paper was all that was needed. Sour has a history of creating inspiring and simple clips like “Omakage no saki” (Beyond your memory) and “Hangetsu” (Rainbow under the overpass). Using little means and the combined power of their fans Sour has reached over 200,000 views and more than 1000 retweets.
