1. The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody
This week’s number 1 spot goes to our friends The Muppets. Their interpretation of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody reached one million viewers the same day it was uploaded and went viral around the world in just two days. At the moment, the video has been viewed 4,445,744 times. The video shows more than 40 Muppets parodying the original clip by Queen. The video was released in memory of Freddy Mercury who died 18 years ago on November 24th. Of course, there is a special place put aside for Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog.
2. What Is Google Chrome OS?
We wrote about it earlier, but last week, Google released the source codes to Chrome OS. At the same time, the company launched a series of videos explaining Google’s operating system designed for people who live on the web. The video tells the story of Google’s Chrome and how it became the inspiration for a new kind of operating system. It was uploaded to YouTube a week ago and got over 1.5 million views. For all those who are curious to see how it works, Google also released an 11-minute demo video of the operating system.
3. World Of Warcraft: Mr. T Commercial
Yet another World of Warcraft commercial is out starring Mr. T. This commercial is a lot like the previous World of Warcraft commercial only this one focuses on Mr. T and how he has the greatest hair in the world and how gamers can also have the greatest hair in the world by getting the Mohawk Grenade. Even though the video is much like the first, it has generated more than 670,000 views in one week. So the gamers apparently like to watch (almost) the same video twice spite the similarities.
4. Mass: We Pray – The Video Game
This video is preparing us for a new video game that is going to be launched Easter 2010. In the video we see a family enjoying church-going time at home, using the wireless cross to play all sorts of church games. On the website shown at the end of the video you can find more information, and it turns out the viral is actually part of a promotional campaign for the video game Dante’s Inferno by EA Games. This is not EA’s first controversial campaign around Dante’s Inferno. The video has been viewed 529,458 times so far.
5. Polar Bear
Plane Stupid is a network of grassroots groups that take non violent direct action against aviation expansion. To confront people with the impact that short-haul flights have on the climate they teamed up with Mother London and Rattling Stick who made this clip. “We used Polar Bears because they’re a well understood symbol of the effect that climate change is having on the natural world.” The video is online since last Friday and already has almost half a million views from around the globe.
