Viral Friday: Joe Jonas Dances To Single Ladies

Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Joe Jonas Dances To Single Ladies. Joe Jonas, lead singer of the Jonas Brothers, dances to Beyonce’s hit song “All The Single Ladies”. The runner up spot is for the literal version of Microsoft: Project Natal. Has Microsoft finally found a way to stop the seeming unstoppable growth of Nintendo’s Wii? With the introduction of Project Natal on the Los Angeles E3 Expo it seems the next step is made. Remi Gaillard: Foot 2009 completes this week’s top 3. We’ve seen Remi Gaillard a couple of times in Viral Friday with his funny prankster videos, but we didn’t know he was such a great football player!

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

We are happy to introduce our latest ViralBlog asset: the Viral Friday Widget! By default the widget shows you the latest Viral Friday, but it’ll also show you the seven most recent postings on ViralBlog. 1. Joe Jonas Dances To Single Ladies

In this week’s number 1, Joe Jonas, lead singer of the Jonas Brothers, dances to Beyonce’s hit song “All The Single Ladies”. A while ago, the band asked their fans how they would prefer to see Joe: wrestling Big Rob, playing a bongo for 10 minutes or dancing to “All The Single Ladies”. Needless to say, fans picked that last option. The lead singer put on his high heels and can now, on popular demand, be seen in the four minute video dancing in a tight, black outfit. You asked for it! The video is a major success. In only one week time, it generated over 7 million views which is great promotion for the soon to be released new album of the three brothers.

2. Microsoft: Project Natal

Has Microsoft finally found a way to stop the seeming unstoppable growth of Nintendo’s Wii? With the introduction of Project Natal on the Los Angeles E3 Expo it seems the next step is made. Project Natal is a new revolutionary way of gaming because you will not need a controller anymore. Using body movements and your voice you control the game, alone or with others at the same time. The reactions on the film (more than 2.7 million combined views) blogs and on Twitter look promising for Microsoft which, with the acquisition of the Israeli start-up 3DV, acquired the motion-sensing technology. During a demo in Late Night with Jimmy Fallon the technology was shown on live TV. Some controversy has risen around the technology; apparently it has troubles sensing motion from people with color. Microsoft still has some work to do.

3. Remi Gaillard: Foot 2009

We’ve seen Remi Gaillard a couple of times in Viral Friday with his funny videos, like ‘Pac Man‘ and ‘Diving‘. This week Remi shows us his amazing football skills, just as he did in 2007 and in 2008. We know Remi has a passion for football and performed several pranks related to football. That makes one wonder, is this real? Anyway, the video is a big success with over 1.2 million views since last July 4.

4. MC Hammer: Hammer Pants Dance

In the Viral Friday top 5 we see more and more successful flashmobs. This week’s flashmob comes from MC Hammer. Next Sunday Hammer’s reality soap “Hammertime” airs on the US cable and satellite television network A&E. To promote the show, which is produced by Eyeworks, a group of dancers wearing Hammer Pants mobbed a trendy store and surprised hipsters in their skinny jeans. Hammer, who is a success on Twitter as well with almost 800,000 followers, scores big with the flashmob video which got over 880,000 views in eight days.

5. Josep Guardiola: FC Barcelona Gladiator

This video was shown by FC Barcelona coach Joseph Guardiola to his team before the start of the Champions League finals against Manchester United. For the ones that didn’t know: Barcelona won the finals with 2 – 0. FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola did this video, with the national Catalonian TV help, to motivate his players, he wanted a video that evolved the best moments of the season and mixed them with Gladiator scenes and the soundtrack of the movie. The video got almost 500,000 views since it was uploaded to YouTube on June 1st and inspired Nike to make a commercial. On the Nike campaign site We Are One users can make their own digital Barça jerseys with their name and preferred player number. The jerseys can be shared by placing it on Facebook, Flickr or Spanish social network Tuenti. More than 190,000 personalized jerseys are being made by visitors.
