This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Gillette. You probably know Roger Federer, the tennis god, does Gillette commercials. He also does tricks. The runner up spot is for Rémi Gaillard. After all his pranks and tricks you might think by now people would have seen it all and no longer care for Gaillard’s pranks. But you’d be wrong. Roger Federer completes this week’s top 3.

1. Roger Federer’s Gillette Trickshot

You probably know Roger Federer, the tennis god, does Gillette commercials. Last Monday, Gillette UK uploaded the above clip to YouTube. The video – billed as behind-the-scenes footage in between takes for a Gillette TV commercial shoot in Switzerland – shows the current world number two knocking a can off a crew member’s head in William Tell fashion. Twice. The video now has almost 3 million views.

2. Rémi Gaillard – Rat

Rémi Gaillard, you’ve heard of him. After all these pranks and tricks you might think by now people would have seen it all and no longer care for Gaillard’s pranks. But you’d be wrong. Last week Gaillard uploaded his latest entry, Rat, which comes in two parts. And together the two score well over 1 million views on YouTube. And if the views on his website are unique the vids got another .5 million views on nimportequi.com.

3. The Last Exorcism

About everyone is familiar with the phenomenon Chatroulette. Several brands have successfully, and unsuccessfully, tried to incorporate the medium in their campaigns. To promote The Last Exorcism a sweet pretty girl, who any well thinking man will not “next”, has been placed behind the camera. But the conversation actually takes a very different turn. With over 130.000 views in only 3 days and many postings on Facebook this video has very high viral potential.

4. Twitter Movie Trailer

After the crazy online succes of the Facebook movie trailer, wich came out a couple of weeks ago, now the time has come for Twitter to spoof the heck out of it. Not only funny, but also surprisingly well acted, the trailer has generated over 400.000 views within a week. Which makes you wonder, what will be next? The battle of the social sites, Facebook versus Twitter? What’s the most social spot on earth? Who’s to follow next?

5. Dodge Tent Event

Virals are often ignited by attempted censorship and controversy, rather than the actual video itself. A high profile complaint can provoque interest, which means the video is pushed way beyond its natural limits. Online this is referred to as the Streissand Effect.

PETA, the animal rights organisation complained about a Dodge ad using a monkey and caused the brand to alter the ad. They photoshopped the monkey out of the ad, mocked PETA and are reaping the rewards with over 200,000 views so far.
