Viral Friday: Single Ladies SNL Parody
Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.

This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Justin Timerlake with his Single Ladies Parody on SNL last Saturday. Though he was neither the host or the musical guest, but he still managed to steal the show. The runner up spot is for Shiba Inu Puppy Cam. The streaming video of six baby Shiba Inus, a Japanese hunting breed, has generated nearly 2 million happily distracted views since it was launched just over a month ago. Bike Hero completes this week’s top 3. Ad agency Droga5 and a production company named Smuggler made this viral for Guitar Hero.
Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!
1. Single Ladies SNL Parody
Last weekend on Saturday Night Live (SNL) Justin Timberlake was neither the host or the musical guest, but he still managed to steal the show. Popping up in this sketch with Beyonce and host Paul Rudd, Justin and SNL cast members perform their own version of the “Single Ladies” dance routine. Although the video was not available on the SNL web site, the video spread rapidly on YouTube. Still the video is hard to find as NBC Universal’s copyright claim takes the videos offline. 2. Shiba Inu Puppy Cam
The streaming video of six baby Shiba Inus, a Japanese hunting breed, has generated over 6 million happily distracted views since it was launched just over a month ago. The puppies – three males and three females named Autumn, Ayumi, Amaya, Aki, Akoni, Ando – spend most of their time sleeping, but there is enough twitching, scratching, yawning, spooning, wrestling and yipping to keep viewers glued to their computer screens. 3. Bike Hero
Last Tuesday YouTube user “madflux” uploaded a video of himself, riding his bike through a Guitar Hero level. The song he rides on is “Prisoner of Society” by The Living End with the difficulty level set to “hard”. “Madflux”, as many surmised, does not exist. According to Creativity Online, it was ad agency Droga5 and a production company named Smuggler who made the video. The video got over 960.000 views in three days. (Source: GameCyte)
4. Britney Spears Womanizer Parody
Last Monday YouTube user “VenetianPrincess” uploaded a spoof of Britney Spears’ Womanizer video. Transforming into Britney it took VenetianPrincess lots of tanning, dark brown contacts and several wigs, so she writes at YouTube. The song is not the same tune as the original because YouTube told VenetianPrincess she can’t do exact song parodies anymore, unless she gets written consent from the writers (which is pretty much impossible). So she had to write an original generic song. (Source: YouTube)
5. Roomba Driver
If you don’t like to vacuum, get a cat and a Roomba from iRobot! As shown in the above video (almost a million YouTube views in about one and a half weeks time) cats can perfectly clean your house! Just be aware, your cat might also be plotting to kill you…
