Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Vampires Suck. It was only a matter of time before spoof movie king Jason Friedberg made a film mocking all vampires and werewolves. The runner up spot is for World’s Largest Skateboard Disaster. A new dimension has been added to ‘feeling small’. But admittedly it looks pretty cool.
Old Spice: Boat completes this week’s top 3. The man your man could smell like just keeps on going.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

1. Vampires Suck

Vampires are hot: True Blood, the Vampire Diaries and of course the Twilight series. So really, it was just a matter of time for the first parody movie to be announced. Well, here it is: ‘Vampires Suck’. Literally. This might not come as a surprise, but Scary Movie director Jason Friedberg is responsible for the vampire spoof. The movie is scheduled for release on the 18th of August. The trailer video, released by 20th Century Fox, hit the web last week and already got a combined 2,4 million views.

2. World’s Largest Skateboard Disaster

Camp Woodward. I’ve never heard of it, but apparently it’s the coolest place to be if you are a boy or girl who wants to have an active summer. This summer things got big, really big. California Skateparks built de world largest skateboard and took it for a visit to Woodward in Pennsylvania. At first a group of people took the skateboard for tiny rides, but with their courage the steepness of the hills also increased. This had to go wrong somehow. Although the video includes a lot of talk compared to action footage, 2,287,998 viewers have watched it in 2 weeks time.

3. Old Spice: Boat

There really has been no way around the Isaiah Mustafa, these last couple of days. Old Spice & Wieden + Kennedy took social media to the next level with ‘The man your man could smell like’ and released a series of video responses to YouTube user comments, Tweets, Yahoo! Answers and blog posts, including @PerezHilton, @Alyssa_Milano, @Starbucks and @Gizmodo. Last week, Old Spice also released another online video: Boat. Enjoy!

4. The Muppets: Pöpcørn

The Muppets have shown they can survive time and changes of medium: their Muppets HD videos are immensely popular. The Swedish chef has been one of the long time favorites of The Muppet Show lovers. He even has his own Youtube channel. Although he has starred few times in previous HD movies, in this movie you’ll see his real skills. Not only is he showing us a great recipe for shrimp popcorn but also some creative ways to make music and his killer dancing skills. Not surprisingly this video has resulted in almost 800.000 views in just two weeks.

5. Yoda Recording For TomTom GPS

After the hilarious performance of Darth Vader in the sound booth for TomTom navigation systems, its Yoda’s turn. Just like Darth Vader, Yoda has a “small” speech impediment, which results in some very funny moments. May the Force be with the sound engineers. Yoda and Darth Vader are part of a new line of voices for the Tomtom navigation system. Later this year C-3PO and Han Solo are going to show their skills in the sound booth. The video has only been online for a week and has already been viewed over half a million times.
