This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Volkswagen. Volkswagen Germany created a series of viral videos titled ‘Fast Lane’ to promote their new Polo GTI. The runner up spot is for YouTube and the Guggenheim. YouTube Play gives all YouTube users the possibility to submit their best video and get it shown in the Guggenheim. Microsoft completes this week’s top 3. Kinect, the former Project Natal, is almost ready to be launched.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

1. Volkswagen – Fast Lane

Volkswagen Germany created a series of viral videos titled ‘Fast Lane’ to promote their new Polo GTI. There are three videos in the series and the most popular one is called ‘The Slide’. If you like the video then you should definitely take a look at the Facebook page from where you can also install the Fast Wall, a neat app that will exclusively show the news of your top ten friends. The Slide video was uploaded on 11 June and it is viewed almost 900,000 times since. In total the videos have almost 1.4 million views.

2. YouTube Play

Two days ago we wrote about YouTube Play, the contest that gives all YouTube users the possibility to submit their best video and get it shown in the Guggenheim. The Play project is promoted by two videos; the trailer, made by Johnny Kelly, and the ‘about‘ video in which the project is explained. Together the videos got over 1.1 million views in two weeks (over 700K for the trailer and over 400K for the about video).

3. Kinect for Xbox 360 – Montage

Just over a year ago the number 2 spot in Viral Friday was for Microsoft’s Project Natal. The project now has a different name, Kinect, and is almost ready to be launched. Microsoft showed Kinect at E3 and this, actually pretty dull, video got almost 900,000 views in two weeks. Kinect is a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience”, which means you can control your Xbox games just by moving your body, which we think is pretty cool!

4. Andy Murray Tennis Street Magic

This video shows how good Andy Murray actually is at tennis. Or it shows how good some folks are at manipulating video material. But that’s not the point. It’s an entertaining video and over 326,000 viewers would agree. The video was created to raise attention to this year’s Wimbledon tournament. Andy’s sponsor Head is upping the social ante with a Facebook page, a YouTube channel and a Twitter account. And if you liked the video background song, it’s available as a free download on the Head website.

5. Banned iPhone 4 Promo

As we told you earlier, Apple has a way of introducing its products with great allure. But this is the iPhone 4 ad, Apple does not want you to see. Unknown sources ‘leaked’ the banned video to YouTube and it tells us exactly how the new iPhone 4 is going to change everything. Again. This iPhone promo spoof got over 400,000 views in just a week’s time. Consider yourself forewarned: it’s hilarious!
