Together with London-based startup Playfish EA Sports announced a new game, FIFA Superstars, will soon have gamers scoring goals on Facebook. EA Sports head Peter Moore made the announcement on the official EA Sports blog, which is under construction at the moment.

According Moore “Our FIFA products connect fans from all over the world who share a common passion for the sport, and soon our partnership with Playfish will allow us to bring the FIFA brand to the growing Facebook community with a new game called FIFA Superstars.”

The game is being created by social games developer Playfish, which EA purchased for $300 million last fall. Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that the developer was working with a “well-known EA brand” for social networking platforms.

Leveraging our football gaming knowledge and marrying it with the social gaming expertise of our partners at Playfish is sure to provide more great opportunities to bring hundreds of millions of new fans to compete against their friends to win the FIFA World Cup through an engaging interactive football experience,” Moore wrote.
