Eric Schmidt And The Google Chrystal Ball
Google is one of the absolute leaders in the online world, so when Eric Schmidt makes predictions about the future people tend to take it a bit more seriously than your average fortune teller. At the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Orlando 2009 he spoke of his vision on the internet and how it will evolve in the next 5 years.
We recommend you watch the full video for yourself, but below we will outline some of the key points.
Schmidt envisions an internet in which English will no longer be the dominant language and Chinese will take over. Speaking to a teenager will give you an impression of both what the web will look like, as well as how your future work force will interact with it – as today’s teenager will be your future employee!
Particularly interesting to us was the fact that Schmidt is amazed by the amount of quality video content on Youtube and Google is actually starting to see some real returns on their investment as they becoming increasingly capable in monetising the video platform. He also foresees an even larger shift towards video content as internet connections speed up.
This comes as no surprise to us. Igor Beuker, founder of ViralBlog and sister company ViralTracker got out his own chrystal ball over 5 years ago now and gambled on video content becoming increasingly important as the internet moved towards becoming a platform for rich media by setting up our own online video metrics tool ViralTracker.
With video already being a huge part of the internet which continues to grow on a daily basis now is the time to start using a tool such as ViralTracker. It provides companies and brands with a way to measure the reach and response of their online videos. More so, it also enables you to track engagement and increase your ROI.
Do you agree with Eric Schmidt and do you see online video becoming a larger part of your marketing strategy? Get in touch now and give ViralTracker a test drive!
