LG ‘Pranks’ People With Fake Job Interview
What will you do if you’re in the middle of a job interview and you suddenly see a giant meteorite heading towards the city?
LG Chile installed an 82-inch Ultra HD TV screen behind the interviewer and disguised it as a real window viewing the city below.
After installing hidden cameras around the room, LG then screened a meteor strike on the huge screen.
Here’s the result:
Looking at the comments on YouTube people actually believe that this prank is real. But check it again folks, it’s fake…
The video seems to be a follow up of the successful prank where people were tricked into thinking the floor of the elevator had fallen out.
That video has been viewed nearly 20 million times since it was published last year.
See the elevator prank video here:
The video was a big succes, but recieved also critism.
As one commenter points out, when the shot inside the elevator is from the ceiling, you see straight down the elevator shift.
But when the view changes to inside the elevator, you see the side of the shaft.
The commenter argues that such a shift is impossible to do with images projected on a monitor, as he mentions in this video:
My Opinion?
I have been working on many viral video seeding projects. So I’m pretty experienced when it comes to judging whether something is real or fake.
But the most important lesson I’ve learned is: how can the client reach its objectives?
With over 2 million views in just 2 days, whether they are pushed by paid seeding or not, this video recieves the awareness which LG is aiming at.
It even made ViralBlog, and perhaps ViralFriday tomorrow? It’s fake, but let’s just pretend that it’s not…
What About You?
What is the most important objective for you if you run a (viral) video project? Do you care whether your video is fake or not? Do you think a fake video could cause ‘backfire’?
