Viral Friday: Super Chill Monkey Does Hollywood

This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Levi Strauss & Co with Super Chill Monkey Does Hollywood. Two weeks ago Levi Strauss & Co scored a Viral Friday #1 position with “Guys Backflip into Jeans”. Last week the successor of this viral launched, scoring the #1 position once again. The runner up spot is for Drench Spring Water ft. Brains from Thunderbirds. Drench, a spring water brand, let’s Brains, Thunderbirds’ bespectacled scientific genius, dance to 1990s club hit Rhythm is a Dancer. Giant LEGO Boulder completes this week’s top 3. To promote the LEGO Indiana Jones game Electronic Arts and LEGO developed the “Giant LEGO Boulder” viral.

1. Super Chill Monkey Does Hollywood


Two weeks ago Levi Strauss & Co scored a Viral Friday #1 position with “Guys Backflip into Jeans“, made by Cutwater from San Francisco. The viral hit, titled “Jumpin’ In”, generated 3.5 million views in just 10 days and got the attention from the Wall Street Journal and Good Morning America. Last week the successor of this viral launched; “Hollywood Jungle”. This one is the second in a series of ten virals which will be released by several Cutwater director this summer to promote the Levi 501 jeans worldwide. (Source: Brandweek)

2. Drench Spring Water ft. Brains from Thunderbirds


The above is a commercial for Drench, a spring water launched by Britvic soft drinks. The campaign was created by London based advertising agency CHI & Partners. In the video we see Brains, Thunderbirds’ bespectacled scientific genius, has joined the rave generation in a TV ad set to 1990s club hit Rhythm is a Dancer. Brains only stops to downs a bottle of mineral water. The campaign carries the slogan: “Brains perform best when they’re hydrated.” (Source: Telegraph.co.uk)

3. Giant LEGO Boulder


Fictional adventurer, professor of history and archeology Indiana Jones first appeared in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Now, 27 years later, he’s back with “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. To promote the LEGO Indiana Jones game Electronic Arts and LEGO developed the “Giant LEGO Boulder” viral, which was recorded in San Francisco. (Source: Nu.nl)

4. The Cesc Fabregas Show


Wieden + Kennedy London made the above video for Nike UK to promote their T90 shoes. The video is part of The Cesc Fabregas Show, starring Arsenal FC player Cesc Fàbregas. In the video we see Cesc, while on fire, dribble with a ball. He keeps it up for a few seconds until he’s overcome by the flames and falls writhing to the ground.

5. The Get Out Clause: CCTV Music Video


Unable to afford a proper camera crew and equipment, The Get Out Clause, an unsigned band from Manchester decided to make use of the cameras seen all over British streets.
With an estimated 13 million CCTV cameras in Britain, suitable locations were not hard to come by.
They set up their equipment, drum kit and all, in eighty locations around Manchester – including on a bus – and proceeded to play to the cameras. (Source: Telegraph.co.uk)

6. Harrison Ford: Lost There, Felt Here


At the moment Harrison Ford is not only the hero in the latest Indiana Jones movie, in real life he’s concerned about our future as well. In this viral for Conservation.org he demonstrates – in a personal way – the pain of deforestation. Also available: behind-the-scenes footage.

7. Rider Chases MotoGP Bike on Foot


Three weeks ago YouTube user notorious415 uploaded the Shark Surfer video. The video, of a guy surfing behind a great white shark, was for Arnette, a “sport eyewear brand”. Notorious415 now uploaded another video for www.arnette.com. In this video we see a MotoGP rider chasing down his bike on foot after falling off during a race.

8. Lacoste Future


As a celebration of their 75th anniversary, Lacoste unveiled a breath-taking futuristic 3D spot with a companion mini site.
The theme of the spot is “Let’s Reinvent The Game” and depicts the future of tennis with a projection of what how tennis will be like after 75 years, in 2083. (Source: Trendhunter)
