How Facebook Beats Yahoo! In UV Rat Race?
Scoring a hat-trick here at ViralBlog is a relatively rare event. But Facebook achieved it with 3-posts-in-a-row. Why again about Facebook? Because Facebook has passed Yahoo! to become the 3rd-most-visited web property in the world, according to ComScore.
ComScore’s November 2010 numbers showed Facebook at 648 million Unique Visitors per month – compared to Yahoo!’s 630 million monthly UV’s.
Google and Microsoft are still hanging tough at the #1 and 2 positions of the list.
The ComScore stats take into account all of the sites’ separate services and pages, such as YouTube, Bing and Hotmail, and not just their homepages.
This seems like it should work in favor of a large network like Yahoo!, but the growth of Facebook has been massive in 2010, while Yahoo!’s numbers have remained flat.
Yahoo! can still take a little comfort in the fact that it’s still beating Facebook in the US by a margin of about 30 million unique visitors a month.
So media agencies can be happy: Facebook offers massive reach and eyeballs. But, it could be that Facebook offers brands much more than reach. How about engagement, social interactions and many more benefits that go beyond advertising?
