Infographic: Facebook 500 Million Members

This week Facebook reached its 500 million member. This milestone was a great opportunity for Facebakers.com to create a nice Infographic. The illustration breaks down the demographics of Facebook’s population according to their own data on the service, and explores the international makeup of the site.

Remarkable is that Turkey has more than 22 million members and is in the top 5 of the largest Facebook countries. Some Turkish contacts informed me that this is because of the fact that YouTube is banned in Turkey and that many Turkish people use Facebook as a replacement for YouTube.

Facebook celebrated the milestone with the launch of Facebook stories application. The app is a collection of stories that members have shared about the impact of Facebook have had on their lives.
