Android vs. iPhone
A recent study by Nielsen shows that more U.S. prospects are considering getting a new smartphone with Android operating system than one from Apple or RIM.
The overall market share in the U.S. shows iPhone is currently more used smartphone, but this might change.
But the results of series of surveys taken in the first three months of 2011 show that 31% of consumers planning a purchase of a new smartphone indicated that Android was their preferred OS when compared to 30% who would choose the iPhone. Android smartphones are for the first time the most sought among the U.S. consumers.
The same series of surveys by Nielsen in last year’s July and September showed that 26% of consumers wanted an Android phone while 33% would go for an iPhone.
Of course comparisons like these aren’t perfect, as iOS runs on Aplle products only and Android can be set-up basically on any device, not just those made by Google. Apart from this fact, the increasing consideration trend of Android OS and the new coming Android 3.0 Platform will probably not pass unnoticed by Apple and others.
