Virtual In Reality
Our virtual life and our real life are getting increasingly intertwined. When in the olden days you needed glasses and massive computers it now only takes your phone and the right app and you are welcomed into a world where you can see and interact with a mix of real life and virtual elements. A good example is the N building in Tokyo covered in QR Code.
By looking at the building through your phone you are able to see what is going on in the building and what people are twittering at that moment.
After the large computers were redundant augmented reality was introduced online, by printing a QR Code and placing it in front of your webcam amazing images came to life right on your own desk.
As soon as the people in the advertising world saw it they all jumped on it, first trying it at their own office and then they started to implement in campaign for their clients.
And now augmented reality is taken even further with the introduction of phones. Augmented reality is taken in to the streets. Giving people the possibility to add an extra layer to their real life. Most commonly is the layer app, showing you the nearest tube station, convenient store, gas station, etc etc etc or giving you information about your surroundings (height of mountains, history of buildings or the type of plant, bird or plane you’re looking at).
Air tagging is making the real life social in a virtual way. It might sound weird but it is true, Sekai Camera empowers you to leave tags for other people in the real world, so they can read your thoughts when they look at that object through their phone.
So for the people who think the future will be dominated with lazy people hanging behind their computer who don’t have a real life social life; you’re wrong… You actually need real life to enjoy these apps (or you can just watch de demos online ).
