How Vimeo Becomes The Instagram Of Video

Vimeo has announced a partnership with cloud-based video enhancing platform Vivoom to add a collection of new visual filters to their service called ‘Looks’.

With this new feature, anyone now can add Hollywood-style effects to their videos in just a few clicks, right on Vimeo. Users simply choose one of their videos, try out a few of the 500+ Looks in the library, and adjust the intensity for the perfect look.

With instant previews, users can view dozens of Looks in seconds, all applied to your own footage, so you can quickly find your favorite. You can also check out recommended Looks tailored to your specific video, or browse by genre, mood, location, color, time period, even holiday.

Check out an example of the result:

Vimeo’s visual enhancing platform is powered by Vivoom, the same solution used by tiny entertainment startups such as Sony, Warner Brothers, and ESPN.

According to a press release, “Vimeo will provide Looks to its registered users for free for the next 90 days.” Following the 90 day period, it looks like most Looks will be available for $0.99.

You can check out the new feature here.

My opinion?
I think this is a smart move, the filter optio fits the Vimeo platform, with all its creativity perfectly.

I believe it’s a matter of time tha easy video programs like iMovie and Windows Moviemaker will have Instagram-like filters.

So I wonder whether people will edit their video ‘in the cloud’ or locally.

What about you?
What is you opinion on this new feature? Will you give it a try?
