When Kazakhstan sportswoman Mariya Dmitriyenko had just won the gold medal in the 75 target event at the 10th Arab Shooting Championship in Kuwait, she is greeted with the obscene parody of her country’s national anthem from the film Borat by mistake…

The lyrics included:

Kazakhstan industry best in the world
We invented toffee and trouser belt
Kazakhstan’s prostitutes cleanest in the region
Except of course Turkmenistan’s

Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan you very nice place
From Plains of Tarashek to Northern fence of Jewtown
Come grasp the might penis of our leader
From junction with the testes to tip of its face!

Ms Dmitriyenko looked around to see if anyone else had noticed the wrong music was playing. They hadn’t so she was forced to listen all the way to end of the tune with her hand on her heart and a bemused look on her face.

The organisers had found a copy of the anthem online and hadn’t realised it was from the satirical film Borat.

At first I was suspicious about the tip. So I had to check some extra sources first. Just to make sure we were not lured into a viral spoof.

It reminded me of one of my most favourite viral spoofs of all times by Trojan Condoms: the old skool Bucharest 2003 Olympic Games.
