50 Strategic Planners To Watch In 2014 (SlideShare)

Who will be turning some actionable insights into provoking content and disruptive innovations? Here are the 50 strategic planners to watch in 2014.

50 Strategic Planners To Watch In 2014 (SlideShare) - By Igor Beuker for ViralBlog.com

Klout shouters, paid-for Facebook likes and other unreliable performance indicators, the guys at The Planning Salon picked the planners that are most likely to create magic this year.

SlideShare: 50 Strategic Planners to Watch in 2014

In this interesting deck the planners were thoroughly picked and interviewed. See who could considerably be turning your commercial and creative directions:

Is the deck matching your expectations? Clearly London and New York City are topping the list.

I also like that so many women are listed. Girl power is a fact in our industry.

But doing my reserach I bumped into another relevant recommendation from SlideShare: What is Comms Planning? See the deck here:

Yes this deck is offering you access to the planning process of, e.g., Puma and great books on planning.

My Opinion

Strategic planners can really make the difference in both branding and campaigns. Having worked with some of these planners, I can only say: this list is spot on.

Some Chief Strategy Officers will be the most important counterpart of the CMO. From a few I even expect real magic.

Former colleague, for example Rory Sutherland in my opinion is a non-conformist. He is focused at simple but clever insights and re-invention. This should basically be one of the best skills of any marketer.

Thanks to guys like Rory the world now has companies accepting they should be a real part of society. They are now aware that the real deal is about: People, planet and profit. Not just profitability.

Besides Rory, other planners from this list will definitely accomplish that some CMOs will understand corporations are not people. Not even in social media.

Now too many CMOs bet on short memories and the healing power of marketing dollars, commercials and discounts.

Employees are pushed to focus on bureaucratic policies and quarterly numbers, not a realization that individuals, not corporations, are responsible for what they do…

What About You?
How do you like this list? What do you expect from these top 50 planners in 2014?
