Google Eye: 007 Augmented Reality Glasses?

Google Eye or Glass. Search giant Google will launch 007 augmented reality glasses which enable smartphone options like calling, internet, maps and more. Not in your pocket, but on your nose. The buzz around these new glasses is massive.

The curtains of Google’s secret X labs are finally opening. And the outcome is truly amazing. By the end of 2012 – for around $250 to $600 – you could be the next James Bond.

Below Google Eye demo video was watched 10,000,000 times in 10 days! Among the massive buzz several people reacted: “Just let me pre-order today, pls take my money now”…

Google Eye will be Android-based. And it will include a small screen that will sit a few inches from someone’s eye. The glasses will be fueled by a 3G or 4G data connection and a number of sensors including motion and GPS.

The glasses will also offer Google Maps, Gcal, Latitude, Navigation and a low-resolution Camera. Just take a look at this video.

Despite its lack of hardware experience, Google is the best positioned company to make, or at least provide the software for eyeglass computers.

And Eye might be a powerful disruptive force for Google in it’s battle against titans Facebook, Apple and Amazon.

Because word is out that Apple engineers are also exploring wearable computing, but the company is taking a different route, focusing on computers that strap around someone’s wrist.

My opinion? This could be a massive hit among a global tech-savvy gen-y audience. A relevant piece of art, not just a gadget. A disrupting force that could fuel the Google brand, as well as a brand new business model.

Now we’d like to hear your ideas in the comments below: Just another gadget? Or a groundbreaking gadget that you’d certainly buy?
