Predicting Online Retail Sales & Growth 2011

Famecount aims to help people locate and connect with celebraties and brands in each of the major social networks. If  you look at the current top 10 of popular brands, half of the brands mentioned are FMCG’s. The only retail brand is current number one, Starbucks.

Looking at the infographic made by savings.com, we have to predict that the current top 10, will be joined by at least one or more Retail brands before the end of 2011.

Currently 6% of all retail sales in 2009 in the U.S. came from online retail sales. Predications are that is this will be at least 8% by 2014.

The key points that support this theory are the growth in E-commerce, the possibilities for Facebook promotions, new (online) technologies in the store and of course online behaviour of the target audience.

A tool that will influence all of the four points mentioned is the mobile / smartphone. Retailers can create mobile coupons or make special offers for smartphone users. Additionally, the phone will be used to compare pricing, check reviews and make payments.
