Google Gets Gold Medal For Gay Mindedness At Sochi Games

Google confesses color and gets a gold medal at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games for its gay mindedness. Sports from Russia with love?

Google Gets Gold Medal For Gay Mindedness At Sochi Games - Igor Beuker for ViralBlog.com

The search giant takes swipe at Russia’s treatment of gay people, by wading into Sochi gay rights row with Google Doodle.

People, planet, profit seems to be the new mantra for the cunning company?

Discover some things you might not have expected to happen.

Google Gets Gold Medal for Gay Mindedness

Media mogul Google has waded into the row over gay rights in Russia with a provocative Google Doodle marking the start of the Sochi winter games.

The doodle, which depicts a variety of winter sports in rainbow colors above a statement from the Olympic charter, leaves no doubt about the company’s feelings on Russia’s treatment of gay people.

The lead up to the Winter Olympics has been overshadowed by a row over Putin’s regime enacting laws criminalizing “gay propaganda”.

But with Doodle, Google is confessing its colors during the Sochi 2014 Winter Games. Are you surprised about that?

You should understand that Google has previously taken a strong stance on human rights issues including most famously censorship in China.

The company, whose slogan is ‘don’t be evil’ faced criticism for agreeing to censor search results in China, before changing its mind in 2010.

My Opinion

My opinion about the Olympics is very well captured in this ad:

Keep it that way, I would like to say.

I do like the fact that Google is supporting gay rights. A huge and bold statement.

But don’t be evil, I am not sure of it yet.

Google have collected too many foul plays when it comes to its privacy approach.

Also Google’s Panda and Penguin manipulations to its organic search results is forcing companies to A. Spend more budget on AdWords and B. To promote their G+ account much more.

Is that Monoploy or fair play?

What About You?
