Does Nike Risks Everything With ‘Risk Everything’?

Nike has launched its first World Cup 2014 commercial with a clear message: ‘Risk everything.’

With less than 70 days until the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Brazil, brands are slowly staring up their World Cup campaigns.

So when you hear about Nike’s new commercial, you instantly drop everything you’re doing and search their newest spot on Youtube: ‘Risk Everything’.

The result is a 60-second video showing Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazil’s Neymar and England’s Wayne Rooney preparing for the World Cup under intense pressure to perform well.

The three star players arrive for a big match, with plenty of pressure on their shoulders accomplished with the sound of loud, urgent footsteps, reminiscent of a one-man march.

And then the video ends with a call to action: ‘Risk Everything’ & ‘Start your journey’

Check out the commercial below:

Davide grasso, nike’s chief marketing officer.

‘We watch football for those unexpected moments of brilliance in large part because they inspire us to attempt our own. those moments awaken inside us all the realization that we too can achieve the impossible.

This film embodies that sentiment and reminds players in every country at every level: if you are prepared to risk everything, there’s no telling what you can do.’

My Opinion?

The ad no doubt helps to build tension for the highly anticipated tournament, which begins this June.

I presume this is just the prelude to bigger and better things from Nike with the World Cup approaching.

If not, I believe Nike is actually the one taking a risk here…

What About You?
What do you think? More to come? Or is this their full World Cup campaign?
